18/1/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm

Ten races have been set down for Eagle Farm this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out a metre for the entire circuit.

1 Space Rider (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be taking care of these. He debuted with an electric win at this track/distance when leading throughout and was far too good from the front. Tricky draw, but should slide across, lead and with class, he has a bit on these.

2 North Pole (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the debut run, which came two weeks ago in the Gold Nugget where he found them a bit sharp but for the most part, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Quietly Arrogant. He had trialled up super leading in and with that run under the belt, up to 1200m, he should prove hard to hold out.

6 Dushenka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Doubtland for Stuart Kendrick that is on debut. This girl has had a couple of trials in readiness for start one, the latest trial seeing her win and she seemed to move well enough. Off that effort, I think she’ll acquit herself well here.

3 Lionel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks one of the better gambles on the card. He made his QLD debut over 1800m here three weeks ago and he was one of the eye catchers of the meeting I thought, rocketing late nearer the inside behind Iverson. Fitter and up to 2200m, enormous upside to come…I think good luck beating him.

2 Iverson (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a query at 2200m but he is a ripper for Rob Heathcoate and is so genuine. That was seen here three weeks ago when off speed but knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Good test here at the trip but he does have a class factor about him vs this lot and will keep chipping away.

4 Bedford Square (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a definite winning chance. Thrown in the deep end in the Shoot Out last time out where she got back to near last in the run and made up decent headway without threatening behind Belvedere Boys. Back to benchmark grade, she rates highly against these.

15 Untouchable Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. Formerly with Team Hawkes, her first run came over 1000m at the Sunny Coast where she lobbed on speed and was absolutely trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. Good upside to come, she is right in the mix.

10 Femme Fatale (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a short course specialist and has found positive form. She was a bit on the plain side fresh at Doomben behind Cherry Rose before racing here and ran a much improved race in defeat behind Bezique. Maps well, in form now, rates highly.

7 Highbar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Joshua King trained gelding that resumes. He was once a very promising horse in QLD but just hasn’t quite gone on with it. That said, he does go well on the fresh side and his trial work to get ready has been strong so watch the market.

5 Kronenburg (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks well placed here to my eye. He ran three weeks ago over 1800m here where he looked the winner when presenting but just couldn’t quite finish the job when second to Iverson. He does seem much better at 1800m vs 1600m so with that in mind, he’ll be hard to beat against these.

8 Holstein (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found positive form and is a key chance. He tried hard last time in the Murwillumbah Cup but just found one better in Collay’s Spirit. Not the best of records at Eagle Farm but overall, this isn’t a strong contest.

2 Jetty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1600m. He ran four weeks back over 1400m here where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat I thought. Like him up in trip and can take this out.

9 Set To Shine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can resume a winner here for Tony Gollan. She is first up, having not raced since Sep 28 on Toowoomba Cup Day when fourth over 1300m on testing ground. She is a mare who can sprint well fresh, she likes Eagle Farm and has trialled nicely for the return so keen to see how she goes.

2 Pizarro (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of All Too Hard for Tony Gollan that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Aug 17 at Doomben where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he was quite good in defeat behind Rockribbed. Likely spots them a start but is a bomb fresh horse and will launch at them late.

8 Mintaka Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Deep Field gelding that resumes for David Vandyke. This five year old hasn’t raced since Aug 17 at Doomben where he got off speed and kept chasing behind Daytona, finishing fourth. He goes well on the fresh side and the trial at the Sunny Coast was encouraging. Keen to see how he goes.

4 Fukubana (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class on his side and I’ll bank on that getting him home here. He resumes for Matty Dunn, having not raced since March 9 when contesting the Randwick Guineas and was outclassed when down the track behind Celestial Legend. Better suited over this sort of distance range and has trialled up super.

3 Boom Shot (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is finding it hard to win but he is a model of consistency and should be around the mark, proving hard to beat against these. He ran three weeks ago over 1300m here and kept chasing from off the speed but couldn’t quite get there behind stablemate Torabella. Knocking on the door and strikes a winnable race.

5 Impendor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to town for Matty Dunn off the back of a dominant first up win at Lismore where he led throughout and gave nothing else a look in to win impressively. He has run well in town before and this race has thinned out after scratchings so I am not dismissing him.

2 Toro Strike (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned in very good order for Jim Mason. 2/2 this prep, the two wins coming over 1200m at the Sunny Coast where each time he has been impressive and strong to the line. Good test here against some likely types but confident he can measure up.

4 I’m Zac (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks suited up to 1200m after being 1300m back to 1100m in the Sunlight Consolation where he got back but made up decent ground in defeat behind Cosmic Fire. Back up in trip now and should be around the mark. Threat for sure.

13 Outta Control (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Dubious that resumes for Tony Gollan. He had a two run Winter prep to start his career, winning on debut at Toowoomba before going to the Sunny Coast when outclassed, finishing down the track behind Mister Bianco. The trial was just so so but with this stable, I say watch the market and see what it does.

3 Torabella (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Tony Gollan trained mare that is three weeks between runs since a dominant win over 1300m here, sitting on speed throughout and was trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. Up in trip, good racing style, she’ll take running down.

6 Harbourmaster (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Mark Currie and has earned a crack at this sort of race. He is four weeks between runs since a dominant win over 1500m here, beating up a Benchmark 70 field with a fair amount of dominance. Tick over trial was good and despite the tricky gate, is one of the hardest to beat.

10 Coup De Tennerre (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Jack Bruce trained stayer that resumes. This guy is first up, with his last run coming on Oct 19 over 2400m here when down the track, producing an end of prep run. He has a great record at the track and fresh at 1600m, keen to see how he goes.

4 Battlefield (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a pretty good engine under the hood and should prove hard to beat against these. He ran over 1000m here three weeks ago where he just found them too sharp and was never a winning factor behind Steady Ready. The rise to 1400m suits and he has a touch of quality about him.

2 The Drover (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is better suited at this level. He ran three weeks back in The Buffering. He got back off the speed and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was quite good in defeat I thought. Back to this level, he rates highly.

10 Cunnamulla Fella (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m after racing over 1300m at the Sunny Coast two weeks ago when first up. She was back near last in the run and while she was never really a winning threat, he did find the line and was pretty good in defeat. Better set up here, he’ll be hard to beat.

2 Our Magnus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a model of consistency for Team Geran and that should continue here. He has been runner up his past two, the latest over 1350m at Ipswich when a driving second to Kipling’s Journey after getting off the speed. Good record here, he’s a key threat.

4 Majestic Boom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing over this trip at the Gold Coast. He got into a decent spot off the speed and tried hard but just lacked the quality to go with them late in the piece behind Lord Of Biscay. Maps ideally, big jockey upgrade, he’s in the mix.
