15/7/2023 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick

Ten races have been set down for Randwick this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out eleven metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; Out seven metres for the remainder.

There is a bit to like about the way 3 Mad Deel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has gone about it in his short career to date and confident he can measure up against these. Both career outings have come over 1300m at Kembla, running third on debut before an electric win two weeks ago, giving them a start and a beating in an outstanding performance. He’ll love 1400m at Randwick and be strong at the end.

1 The Little Pumper (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. He resumed at the midweeks at Canterbury where he led throughout and was stronger the race went on, drawing clear late for a dominant win. Kept up to the mark with a tick over trial last week and the way he won fresh, 1400m is fine, and with his racing pattern, he appeals.

11 Lady Soames (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is certainly in with a shout. This Churchill filly for Kris Lees that has been strong in two runs, both over 1262m at Taree. Did more than enough on debut before making a mess of them next start, ridden with more intent and duly saluted. Bred to eat up 1400m and the stable is flying with their juveniles. She appeals.

6 Oakfield Waratah (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat back to Midway grade. He showed good ticker to win a Midway two back at Rosehill before racing there again two weeks ago when near the speed throughout and was there to win but just couldn’t quite get there when third to Resonator. That form clearly reads well for this so for mine, he only has to hold his form to be around the mark.

3 Dimaggio (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is gradually getting towards peak fitness and is one of the key threats. He has placed his past two, two back coming on the Kenso track before going to Rosehill a fortnight back when near the speed throughout and battled away really well when third to Soami. Think with a more positive ride, ideally on speed, he’ll take running down.

13 Tympanist (Bet Now:  $SP.00) brings solid form and is certainly going well enough to take out a race like this. He ran two weeks back at Rosehill over 1800m and was quite good from off the speed when closing off nicely, finishing a close up fourth to Touristic. Back to a truly run mile, he can settle closer in the run and will be stronger than most at the end.

5 Durnstein (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous. Market said he’d need the run when resuming at Gosford and that is how it panned out but I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Amnesty, who potentially looks city class, so that form should stand up here. Drawn tricky, but has a decent racing style and 1200m should be no issue for him.

6 Iron Will (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Tash Burleigh trained three year old that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Feb 25 at Randwick in a Highway over 1000m when doing work from the wide gate and just felt the pinch late behind Mogo Magic. Trial behind the well performed stablemate Pokerjack was good, he can sprint well fresh and 1200m first up tells me there is intent.

15 Tai Lung (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win a Highway for Terry Robinson. He was odds on when a strong on speed winner at Nowra two back before going to a Highway at Rosehill where he got a fair way out of his ground but I really liked the way he finished his race off behind Mogo Magic. Back to a Class 2, more positive ride, he’s a key winning chance.

9 Awesome Wonder (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for John O’Shea and is hard to beat. Loved the way she let down from the back to win fresh over the mile at Wyong before going to 1800m here a few weeks ago in a Mares race and she was a real eye catcher from near last on the turn when third to Bowery Breeze. Staying at 1800m is the knock but right down in the weights, good upside, she appeals.

1 Mahagoni (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run a much improved race back to 78 grade. Ran in a strong 88 at Rosehill a fortnight back and while he was safely held, I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Attractable, beaten just over three lengths. This looks more his level and I think he only has to run up to last start to take beating against this lot.

8 Villaden (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a hard horse to catch but with his best, he is certainly good enough to be around the mark. Far from disgraced two back at Canterbury behind Fun Sunday before going to Rosehill where he did work from the wide gate and was entitled to knock right up but he kept on and was game in defeat behind Touristic. Better luck this time, he can threaten.

9 Tintookie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly with good talent for Brad Widdup and I think with a more positive steer, I think she’ll take beating here. She has placed in both runs this time in, each run coming at the Rosehill 1100m, the latest being two weeks ago when back near last and working home with purpose when a close up third to Waverider Buoy. Has the capacity to settle much closer and if that eventuates, she’s the one.

7 Hi Dubai (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. She ran a fortnight back at Rosehill where she attempted to lead throughout and she gave a very strong kick but just couldn’t quite finish it off and was nabbed late by Waverider Buoy. The end of 1200m is the query with her but if she gets control on speed, she’ll look the winner for a long way.

13 Euros (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has an inside gate to use to settle closer in the run and be dangerous at odds. He ran two weeks back at Rosehill where she got back from the wide gate and did make up some headway but was never really a threat behind Waverider Buoy. Like her up to 1200m and drawn to settle closer, I think she is certainly in with a shout.

9 Cosmic Minerva (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been super in two runs back from a spell and third up from a break, he should just about be ready to go. Bjorn Baker trained gelding that has had two runs back from a spell, both coming at Rosehill. He should have won two weeks ago but he bombed the start, settled back and that sealed his fate. The fact he rocketed late and just missed, the run was enormous. Rub of the green, normal luck, he’s clearly the one to beat.

7 Vienna Empress (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Chris Waller and with normal luck, she’s going to take beating. She ran two weeks ago over 1500m at Rosehill where you can easily make a case to say that she wins if she got clear in the straight, but it didn’t eventuate and it ended up being an ugly watch behind the very much in form Attractable. Better luck this time around, she will go close.

2 Zoushack (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give plenty of cheek. He was kept pretty safe in betting a fortnight back at Rosehill over 1500m. He attempted to lead throughout and credit to him, he gave an awesome kick but just couldn’t quite finish the job when a narrow second to Attractable. Like him back to 1400m, lands near the front and will be hard to run down.

1 Overriding (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Nathan Doyle and has to be given serious respect. She is 3/3 this time in, stepping up successfully to Saturday grade here a few weeks back, knuckling down strongly from off the speed to run down a handy filly, Miss Hellfire. If she can stretch it to 1400m, they are certainly cooking with gas in terms of taking out a race like this.

4 Centrestone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been a model of consistency in recent times. Far from disgraced two back at the mile here behind Ita before going to the Warwick Farm mile where she got back off the speed and found the line with real purpose when a narrow second to stablemate Mutamanni. I think back to 1400m is a big tick for her and the depth here, IMO, is a bit on the thin side, so she appeals.

Fitter and up to 1400m, I think you have to give 10 Arranmore (Bet Now:  $SP.00) a look. Chris Waller trained mare that was unwanted in betting when resuming at the midweeks at Warwick Farm where she got a mile out of her ground and was never really a threat behind the in form Ottilie. Has a good second up record and is a winner at Randwick so she has a bit going for her.

7 Gracilistyla (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. This gelding has been pretty solid in all three runs this time in, the latest being two weeks ago at Rosehill when a closing second from off the speed behind the very much in form Resonator. Gets in well enough after the claim and I think he’ll love getting to Randwick from Rosehill. Hard to beat.

11 Festival Dancer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is back miles in depth and she can run a much improved race here. She did a bit too much work near the speed when racing at Randwick three weeks ago and that early burn just told late when down the track behind Stonecoat. Tick over trial last week was a pretty good piece of work…jury is out on how well she is actually going, but this is a very winnable race.

12 Phillipsburg (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is getting towards peak fitness and his best is clearly good enough to be around the mark. Just looked in need of the run fresh at Warwick Farm and was a real eye catcher. He then went to Rosehill a few weeks back and was a pass mark in a race not run to suit behind Attractable. Last start was at the midweeks at Warwick Farm and just couldn’t quite get involved when back in trip. Like him up to 1600m and has more upside than most.

6 Logan Street Lion (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Just missed out on the win fresh, albeit back on April 29 when a narrow second to Coal Crusher. Had a break and came back two weeks back at Rosehill where he just looked in need of the run behind Attractable. Gets a much better set up this time around so don’t dismiss him.

9 United Nations (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Aidan O’Brien, he now finds himself with Maher/Eustace. His form when racing in Ireland/UK reads very well for a race like this, notably a run behind top class colt Coroebus. He’s had three trials to get ready for the resumption so the grounding is there. Watch the market.

8 Purple Sector (Bet Now:  $SP.00) promised to be a really good horse once upon a time but the wheels have fallen off with injury and form ensuring he remains a benchmark horse. That said, he hasn’t been too bad in recent runs, the latest being three weeks back here when close up in defeat behind Super Strike. He has that 1800m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead.

9 Pokerjack (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is worth an each way ticket in the get out. He resumes for Tash Burleigh, having not raced since Feb 17 at Canterbury when near the speed and fought on quite gamely in defeat behind Miss Kojiki. He isn’t a noted fresh horse but went like a jet in a Moruya trial win to get ready. Down in the weights, will likely be stalking Passegiata and be there when the whips are cracking.

5 Rubinocchi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Joe Pride trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since September 3 here when far from disgraced in defeat but from a punters perspective, she was disappointing behind Sneaky Paige. She is a mare who can sprint well fresh and with two strong trials under the belt, I think she’s ready to go.

11 Salire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has run well in town outside Highway races previously so I think in a fast run 1000m, he’s in with a shout. He comes through a Highway from two weeks back at Rosehill, but he was beaten by a very good horse in Mogo Magic, rocketing to the line late. He loves Randwick and will be stronger than most at the end.

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 9 Awesome Wonder

LONG SHOT: Race Three Number 5 Durnstein
