Group l racing returns to Brisbane this Saturday, with Eagle Farm hosting Doomben 10,000 Day. The weather forecast is for showers, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out seven metres for the entire circuit.

10 Boomnova (Bet Now: $4.00) is a quality mare for Chris Munce that showed good ticker to win fresh last Wednesday at Eagle Farm. She was near a genuine speed throughout and was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure to fend them off and win. More depth here, but she’s very genuine and tries hard, plus won’t mind give in the track.

The J Kah tax in full effect with 6 Shamaton (Bet Now: $3.60) but that aside, he is hard to beat. Ran over 1200m at Doomben three weeks ago and tried his guts out but I just feel six furlongs at this level found him out in a total forgive. Back to five furlongs, J Kah on, he appeals.

1 Le Palmier (Bet Now: $13.00) is getting towards D-Day for Tony Gollan. His last couple of runs have been a touch on the plain side, the latest being three weeks back at Doomben when down the track behind Centrefire after doing work from a wide draw. His best is clearly good enough. Just needs to show it.

8 Diamil (Bet Now: $2.80) on top in a thin race. He is on the seven day back up for John O’Shea after racing last Saturday in The Coast and he had no hope given the race shape. Much better suited here IMO and if he can sit closer in the run with J Kah on, he’ll take beating against this lot.

2 Bigboyroy (Bet Now: $4.40) is suited up in trip for Chris Waller. He ran over 1350m at Doomben three weeks ago where he was near the speed but second up on testing ground, his condition just gave way late. Like him up to the mile and down in the weights with J Kah, he appeals.

4 Derulo (Bet Now: $4.80) is knocking on the door to win a Stakes race. Sat on speed three weeks ago in the Tails Stakes and gave a really good kick. Looked the winner but was nailed near the line by Kukeracha, who ran super in the Hollindale last Saturday, so that form has to read well.

4 Our Intrigue (Bet Now: $5.50) has good upside to come and I do think juice in the track suits. Loomed to beat Major Artie at Eagle Farm two weeks back but being her first run since March 28, her condition just gave out late. Better for that run under the belt, I think she’s in the mix and gets W Pike.

3 London Banker (Bet Now: $16.00) has been crying out for more ground this time in and he gets it here. Ran three weeks ago in the Tails Stakes over the mile and was one paced in the run to the line behind Kukeracha, looking every bit a 2000m+ horse. He gets to that trip here, so it’d D-Day.

8 Humbolt Current (Bet Now: $10.00) is one I could entertain for wider multiples. He ran in the Youngblood race from a few weeks back where he was ridden negative and didn’t really threaten, but was only beaten just over three lengths. Has won at a staying trip and in the right camp to bounce back.

7 Arentee (Bet Now: $10.00) is heading in the right direction for Chris Meagher. Arrogant first up win at Doomben before going to Eagle Farm where he was smashed in betting and under McEvoy, he finished best to win, beating the older horses. 1350m should be fine and he’s got upside.

10 Startantes (Bet Now: $2.60) should love the rise to 1350m. She was ridden negatively in the Victory Stakes when taking on the big boys and I thought she ran a super race in defeat from near last on the turn when fourth to Count De Rupee. Has sights on the Stradbroke/Tatts Tiara and she does appear quite hard to beat here.

4 Release The Beans (Bet Now: $8.00) isn’t far away. Jimmy Orman gave him a peach two weeks back at Eagle Farm and he looked home when presented, but couldn’t withstand the finale of Minsk Moment, a quality horse when right, so the form reads well enough…just needs to tick the wet track box.

18 Political Debate (Bet Now: $10.00) could book a ticket for the JJ Atkins with a strong showing here. Debuted on testing ground at Canterbury where he didn’t stop chasing and was good in defeat when second to Resonator. Has that run under the belt now and stable love to target these kind of races with an eye towards the Group l.

3 Capital Tower (Bet Now: $3.90) is a Tony Gollan trained colt that resumes. He is 3/3 to start his career, the latest run coming on March 5 when a dominant winner at Toowoomba. Given a break with the Carnival in mind. No public trial to get ready, but beware the unbeaten horse and maps beautifully from the gate.

7 Jemeldi (Bet Now: $18.00) is a knockout hope. I thought he did enough in the Dalrello given he drew tricky, did work out wide and felt the pinch late in a solid effort behind Exo Lady. He gets a gate to use, settle much closer in the run and at his best, it wouldn’t shock me if he won.

1 Babylon Berlin (Bet Now: $4.00) brings a clear class edge and I think that gets her home. She resumes for Tony Pike and brings with her A1 form from NZ, including a third in the Railway behind Entriviere. She flies fresh, she loves getting her toe in, she gets J Mac and the fact this race is now 1200m on the big track and not 1110m on the tighter track at Doomben is enough for me to be in her corner.

10 Centrefire (Bet Now: $20.00) is a Chris Munce trained mare who deserves a crack at some blacktype again. Specked at odds when resuming three weeks ago at Doomben and despite being a long price, she was the only horse you wanted to be on in the run and she gave nothing else a look in, winning with authority. She’s in with a winning chance here.

18 Our Birdsong (Bet Now: $344.00) is a mare that is in winning form for a very much red hot Michael Moroney camp. Strong on speed win over 1400m on the Lakeside track, kicking on hard when challenged to fend them off to win. Interesting she comes back to 1200m, but she lands near the front and will run a usual honest race.

1 Character (Bet Now: $2.90) has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat. James Cummings trained three year old that got the perfect run in transit two weeks ago in the Queensland Guineas and given he had the hard grounding, he was always going to be strong late and that was the difference. Fitter, up in trip, he rates highly.

3 Dark Destroyer (Bet Now: $7.00) is ticking along beautifully and he’s a swimmer so the wetter the better for him. He got back and was strong late a fortnight back in the Queensland Guineas when second to Character in a good effort. Unknown at 2000m but off last start, he’ll relish it.

18 Paternal (Bet Now: $31.00) is on trial for a Derby path with a good showing here. Flattered in the Frank Packer I thought given he was nearer the inside, which was clearly the best ground, when fourth to Verona. Fresh legs no issue for him, he’s in the right camp and should be strong at the end.

With a heavy track on the cards, you have to lean towards 9 Mazu (Bet Now: $3.30). He’s been so well placed by Team Snowden. 4/4 during the Sydney Autumn, the latest being during The Championships at Randwick when a dominant winner of the Arrowfield Sprint. The query is the form around, as a whole, stinks, but he’s a wet tracker with a good racing style and is trained by Grand Final specialists.

11 Generation (Bet Now: $12.00) looks one of the hardest to beat for the Maher/Eustace camp. He has been given a mini break since the William Reid where he ran very well in defeat when fourth to September Run after being well supported leading. Trialled up super at Rosehill and to me he looks an ideal three year old heading towards the Stradbroke.

1 Kementari (Bet Now: $7.00) is big odds. Nash magic got him the win fresh in the Hall Mark at Randwick, taking a very narrow gap nearer the inside and in a driving go, finished best. Count De Rupee ticked that form off in the Victory Stakes and really liked his recent tick over trial. He’s here to rock and roll.

1 Never No More (Bet Now: $6.50) is bursting to win for Matty Dunn and I think he finds a winnable race. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1350m where he got back and worked to the line strongly, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Last Chance. Getting his toe in no issue and stable finds Nash.

12 Palladas (Bet Now: $4.20) deserves another chance. Be very forgiving of his first up run two weeks ago. He was set a task from the wide gate, sitting three wide the trip and he actually fought on pretty well in defeat behind promising youngster Arentee. Fitter, up in trip, he’ll take beating.

15 Aidensfield (Bet Now: $10.00) is a hard mare to follow/trust with confidence but she does have talent and she is racing well despite not winning. Has placed in all four runs this time in, the latest being two weeks ago over 1400m at Eagle Farm where she looked home but the inside bias kicked in and Bullfinch finished hard late to nab her. Knocking on the door she is.
