6 Furious (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat for Team Hawkes. He was far from disgraced behind Mr Monaco two weeks ago at Randwick, getting back to near last in the run and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was a definite pass mark. If he can settle closer and be within range, he’ll be hard to hold out.

7 Xtra Rush (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was game in defeat a fortnight back at Flemington when on speed throughout and did try hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Ambassadorial. Good racing style and after the claim, he gets in really well.

2 Jimi Hendrix (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came two weeks back over the mile at Flemington where he just found them a bit sharp but he stayed on and was quite good in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, good upside to come, not dismissing here.

1 Oh Too Good (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class on her side and I’ll bank on that class getting her home. She resumes, having not raced since Oaks Day when down the track behind Apulia, trying hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Two strong jumpouts under the belt, she’s here to play I say.

7 Photograph (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class and commands respect. She resumes, having not raced since Nov 29 when midfield in the Doveton at Caulfield behind Aviatress, who was flying at the time. She goes well fresh and will be strong late so she appeals.

2 She’s Got Pizzazz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) resumes for Moody/Coleman, I dare say with eyes on the Sangster. She hasn’t raced since Cup Day when dumping Blake Shinn in the HKJC Stakes. Looks to have jumped out well, will be strong late…not dismissing.

4 Harry’s Yacht (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying and has earned a crack here. He was a strong track/distance winner three weeks ago, knuckling down with purpose late to wear down Porter and score. Harder here, but he’s in career best form and I think he can measure up.

1 Veight (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since contesting the Futurity where he was wide no cover on speed and the hard run just told late in the piece. He is a good horse when right and back to this level, I say he’s in the mix.

3 Athanatos (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Phillip Stokes trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Cup Day over 1800m when leading and tiring late behind Kingswood. He does sprint well fresh and looks to have jumped out really well so watch betting.

1 Bossy Benita (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Mick Mehegan. Mannerism winner from this track/distance last start, getting complete front end control in front and she gave nothing else a look in to win impressively. Looks to find the front again and should take running down.

2 Merrigold (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for John Sadler, having not raced since Jan 24 when second over 1700m here to Taken, trying hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Tick over jumpout was encouraging and 1400m, back to Mares grade, she rates highly.

3 Flying Fizz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Matty Williams trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Nov 16 when midfield at Donald after getting back. Couple of jump outs under the belt, watch betting.

5 Purple Streak (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a nice horse I feel. Not sure he beat much on debut at Werribee but the manner in which he put them away…boy he was impressive, ran time and did it without really being properly extended. Jumpout win last week was sharp, keen to see how he goes but think he can measure up.

1 Wintery (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a slight query at 1200m but does appear to have class on her side. She ran down the straight at Flemington two weeks ago and was far from disgraced though held on the line by Educated. 1200m is the question mark but does bring the A1 form.

10 Nostra Bella (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been well and truly thrown in the deep end her past couple, the latest being in the Gold Comet two weeks back. She was safely held by Bridal Waltz but was far from disgraced. I doubt she wins this but can run first four.

I loved the win of 6 She’s Impeccable (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Not so much at the time because I thought Colour Our World was a moral but this girl was three wide the trip yet finished best to win. Hrder here, but she’s flying and think she can measure up.

2 Sir Atlas (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was considered a good thing when racing at Wangaratta last time out and despite a few nervous moments in the run, class came to the fore late and he was much too good in the run to the line. He’s returned well and should take beating against these.

3 Brung King (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hit and miss but is capable. He ran second over the mile at Ballarat last time, sitting on speed and fought hard in the straight but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Zeshadow. Good racing style…if he brings his best, he’s in the mix.

Team McEvoy had a couple nominated here and go with the sole rep in 2 Knurl (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who resumes. He had a pretty solid Spring prep, highlighted by a win at Bendigo when beating one runner. Given a good break and has looked to jump out really well.

11 Lagunanini (Bet Now:  $SP.00) might be a pretty sharp filly for Busuttin/Young. Not sure she beat much on debut at Sale but she was dominant from on speed, handled the wet track and won quite impressively. Good test here, but think she can measure up.

Team Browne won this race last year with McGaw and are looking for history to repeat with 7 Lomu (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He is on debut and from all reports, worked well here on Tuesday morning, enough to convince the stable to have a crack. Watch betting.

I think 1 Light Infantry Man (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat. He resumed with a bang in the Carlyon Cup. Late market push said he was near unbeatable and won accordingly despite looking in trouble on numerous occasions. Class kicked in and he was much too good. Tick over jumpout was strong, he can settle forward and will just keep on fighting.

2 Buckaroo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the top seed if he’s ready to go. He resumed in the Futurity and ran out of his skin in defeat I thought behind Pericles, closing with real purpose. If he’s over the issue he had last week, he takes a power of beating.

3 Apulia (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1800m after resuming over the mile in the Blamey two weeks back. He got back to near last off speed and was never really threatening but kept chasing and was quite good in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, he’s a definite improver.

16 Silvasista (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been given a mini freshen up since a spank job first up win in a Wangaratta maiden, sitting just off speed and was trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win by a space in dominant fashion. Moved well in a recent tick over jumpout, keen to see how she goes at this level.

1 Different Gravy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very nice horse for Henry Dwyer. He really came of age in the Spring, with a win at Flemington on Cup Day before making a mess of them here in the Melbourne Classic. He’s better suited over further but has class and loved the way he moved in a recent jumpout win.

11 Arabian Prince (Bet Now:  $SP.00), you’d assume, has eyes on the SA Derby. Mick Kent trained three year old that resumes, having not raced since Cup Day when far from disgraced over 1800m behind Different Gravy. He’ll likely spot them a start but launch late and can win.

1 Jigsaw (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has too much class for these surely. He has been freshened up since a win at Ellerslie in the Railway, leading throughout in impressive fashion. Tick over trial a couple of weeks ago was quite good, he should lead and take a power of running down.

4 Ndola (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since a win down the straight at Flemington where he gave them a start and a beating, really surging hard late to finish best and score. Tick over jumpout was good, he seems more effective as a sprinter and I say commands respect.

2 She’s Bulletproof (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. She resumed in the Oakleigh Plate where I thought she would run really well but seemingly had her chance and was just fair late. Back to this level, if she’s anywhere near her best, she can go close.
