13/2/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

The Parks track at Morphettville is where SA metro racing takes place on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

3 Alleboom (Bet Now: $1.90) looks the safe option. Talented three year old for the Jolly camp that resumes after a successful Spring, highlighted by a dominant win on Cup Day at Flemington, so he does have quality on his side and his recent jumpout here was very encouraging to the eye. Hard to beat.

5 Symphonette (Bet Now: $5.00) can bounce back. This mare comes through the Durbridge from two weeks ago in what was a fast run 1100m contest and she was run off her legs, failing to come on behind Behemoth. Fitter and back in trip, as well as back in grade/depth, she can easily win this without surprising.

1 Port Vale (Bet Now: $15.00) is a knockout chance. Hasn’t raced for two months, his last run being at Gawler when back near last in the run and making up ground late behind impressive winner Terbium. He is a horse who does race best on the fresh side and two of his four career wins have come at this track/distance.

Leaning towards 3 Great Diviner (Bet Now: $4.80), on debut for Will Clarken. Has had a couple of solid trials to get ready for start one, the latest trial seeing him run a close up third here on Monday and looked to go about his business quite nicely. Looks a good type and drawn the pole, he’ll do me.

12 Virtue (Bet Now: $3.40) deserves another chance. Backed with real confidence when resuming on the course proper here two weeks ago. Sat on speed and looked to be going quite easily. Hit the front and looked home, but was nabbed late. She’ll come on from that and off her trial/jumpout, I am convinced she has come back well.

11 Stasia (Bet Now: $5.00) is a key threat for me. Michael Hickmott trained filly that is on debut. Looked sharp in a Murray Bridge jumpout before trialling at Gawler when going about her business nicely when a close up third. Stable is in a real purple patch at the moment, especially with these youngsters, so I’m happy to give her respect despite a tricky gate.

3 Hauraki Golf (Bet Now: $3.70) deserves another chance. Was keen on him when he debuted over 1000m at the Valley, but just looked lost around the tight track so want to be forgiving of that effort behind Telluride, another handy Godolphin juvenile. Trialled up super to that so giving him another chance.

10 Hanabi (Bet Now: $2.90) is a Phillip Stokes trained filly that debuts. She’s hard in the market off the back of a sharp trial win at Gawler last week where she won by a space and looked to move very well. I think we are starting to see that trials are trials and races are races and that trials are massively overplayed, in certain cases, so will be fascinating to see what the market does with her.

4 Knightstown (Bet Now: $7.50) creates interest. Son of Valentia on debut for Gordon Richards and has been supported in early betting. Couple of public trials to get ready for his first start, winning his latest trial and he looked to go about his business pretty nicely I thought. Tricky draw, but in the right stable.

1 Tibetan… (Bet Now: $1.70) if he runs up to anything near his best, he wins and wins comfortably. But, his recent efforts, although close up, have been pretty plain I feel. Had every chance two weeks ago on the course proper here when third to Medieval Miss, and I couldn’t find any excuses. If he runs up to his best, he wins.

Want to give 3 Ourkhani (Bet Now: $4.80) another chance. Team Jolly trained gelding that is on the quick back up after racing on the course proper here last Saturday. Just think the track was too shifty for him and he couldn’t let down properly on it behind Hobo Bob. Better suited on firmer footing and is a winner at 2500m so 2400m here should be fine.

7 The Red Sea (Bet Now: $15.00) can sneak a first four spot down in the weights. He’ll put himself on speed and run a cheeky race at big odds I reckon. Recent efforts have been just plain but he is better than that and overall, this is a weak staying race, so don’t be surprised to see an improved showing.

2 Crown Mint (Bet Now: $5.50) just has to be somewhere near his best and he’ll be too good for this lot. They tried to test him out as a Stakes horse in the Spring and he ran okay, but didn’t really measure up. Returns as an Autumn three year old and he has looked great in both trials. I think he’s too good for these.

Fitter and up to 1200m, in the corner of 7 Pimm’s Party (Bet Now: $5.00). Resumed over 1100m on the course proper here two weeks ago and kept finding the line under pressure. Just no match for a quality filly in Echoes In Eternity. Has upside to come and the form around her does read well for this.

Back up to 1200m I do like for 9 Mrs Mourinho (Bet Now: $9.00). Close up two back over the trip at Gawler before backing up a week later, coming back to 1100m, and was good in defeat from the back behind Echoes In Eternity. She has a good engine under the hood and certainly capable of taking this out.

He’s an enigma but Phillip Stokes looks to have 2 Live And Free (Bet Now: $6.00) humming. Was formerly with John O’Shea before a NT prep towards the Darwin Cup, where he failed to fire. Now with Stokes, his jumpout was good but loved his Gawler trial last week. If this track is playing fair, he can win this for sure.

3 Fox Hall (Bet Now: $7.00) can take this out. Team McEvoy trained gelding that was a few weeks between runs when racing at Murray Bridge last time out and worked home well late albeit clearly no match for Mystyko. That form was franked in the Durbridge, so think he’s hard to beat against these.

7 Lostarc (Bet Now: $81.00) is several weeks between runs for Ryan Balfour since resuming here on Boxing Day. He got back in the run and didn’t really come on, but was found to have had a small muscle tear in his off side rump, so clear excuses. On the Adelaide Cup path, so whatever he does here, he’ll improve on, but should be strong late.

Siding with 6 Bolt I Am (Bet Now: $23.00) in what looks a tricky race. Forget he went around last Saturday. Four wide no cover for the trip and couldn’t come on when down the track behind a promising animal in Ironclad. Good record on the Parks track, better suited on firmer footing and most importantly gets a suck run from the draw.

3 May Be Fate (Bet Now: $6.50) is going super at the moment and he can win again. Ran at Gawler three weeks ago when sitting off a decent speed before peeling wider into clear air out wide in search of better ground and he got it, drawing clear to win and win well. No reason why he can’t repeat the dose.

9 Tony’s Reward (Bet Now: $11.00) is working up to a win I feel for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. Specked at odds when racing on the course proper here two weeks ago and worked to the line pretty well when fourth to Taken Off, a horse who I have a lot of time for. That form does look to read well for a race like this.

11 Our Sustar (Bet Now: $6.00) is on top for me. Michael Hickmott trained filly that resumes, having not raced since breaking her maiden tag back in October in impressive fashion at Penola. On paper, a Penola maiden doesn’t scream out as a strong form reference, but they ran solid time relative to the meeting and the form out of it has been good. Liked her Gawler trial and finds a winnable race.

3 Mrs Hyde (Bet Now: $6.00) is a very, very fast horse that will look the winner for the first 500m-600m of the race. She has blinding early toe and should lead this field up quite comfortably, which is what she did last start at Murray Bridge, but couldn’t sustain it and ran last. One for wider exotics I think.

9 Summer Show (Bet Now: $19.00) represents potential value here. Massive rise in depth from her compared to what she beat at Oakbank last time, but she was impressive from near the speed and she could well stalk Mrs Hyde from the inside gate. With the 3kg claim, gets in well and is a knockout chance.

13 Neodium (Bet Now: $10.00) does look a progressive animal for Phillip Stokes and I think he can measure up in town. Resumed over 1100m on Strathalbyn Cup Day where the market wanted to be with him and it was spot on. Sat on speed before taking the front on the turn and dashing clear to win and win well. Harder here, but he’s got room for improvement for sure.

7 Angaston (Bet Now: $5.50) is a Jon O’Connor trained gelding who comes here in winning form. Looked to have found a perfect race last Thursday night at Pakenham and he duly saluted under Lane, booting clear late and was strong to the line in winning. Stable is going super and confident he goes close.

9 Ambidazzle (Bet Now: $5.50) is an honest mare for Phillip Stokes that should be around the mark. On the quick back up after racing on the course proper here last Saturday when near the speed and battling away strongly when a close up third to a really good one I feel in Ironclad. Good record on the Parks track and is hard to beat.
