12/11/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Doomben, Keith Noud Quality day

The Brisbane Summer Carnival warms up this Saturday at Doomben, headlined by the Keith Noud (1200m). The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

2 Abounding (Bet Now: $1.55) gets the nod for me. Rob Heathcoate trains this daughter of Rich Enuff, and she looks a solid jump/run type. Two trials for two wins, the latest coming a couple of weeks back here when leading throughout and she ran pretty solid time in doing so relative to the 2YO trials. She’s the one to beat I think.

5 Skirt The Law (Bet Now: $7.00) I am very wary of. Tony Gollan had a few nominated for this race but has this filly as a sole rep. She was out the back and looked to be absolutely jogging. On paper, was beaten nearly eight lengths, but she looked to have plenty up the sleeve, so watch the market.

3 Diamond Heels (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Chris Munce trained filly that is on debut. She ran second in the trial Skirt The Law contested, won by Mighty. Diamond Heels was asked for an effort but responded well enough to my eye when running second. Think she’ll run a positive race.

3 Otyrar (Bet Now: $1.75) is absolutely flying for Chris Waller and see no reason to jump off him. He got the beaut sit behind the speed at Eagle Farm two weeks ago and really, it was just a matter of getting clear air. Once he got it, the race was over and he was much too good. He’s the one to beat once again.

1 Stardome (Bet Now: $3.60) is the class of the field and he finally gets to a suitable trip for the first time this prep. He ran over the mile here three weeks ago and I liked the way he kept finding the line when second to all the way winner Ulysses. Straight to 2200m is the little query, but has the Waller polish and has class.

4 Romakash (Bet Now: $41.00) is one to include for exotics. He ran behind Otyrar two weeks back at Eagle Farm and was one of the first off the bit but kept finding the line. His Doomben record is horrendous, but outside the top two, the depth is quite thin, so he can pinch a first four spot.

Even though 13 Saweetie (Bet Now: $4.00) has a lone win at 1200m, I do think she’ll be better as a short course animal, so with that in mind, I am in her corner. She resumes, having not raced since Ipswich Cup Day over 1200m where she found a testing track and couldn’t pick her feet up late. Given a good break and with a sharp trial win under the belt, she’s ready to go.

4 Strategic Position (Bet Now: $5.50) has to be given another chance. Too bad to be true when resuming here three weeks ago in the first run for Tony Gollan. Whether he didn’t handle the wet track, he ran his race prior to the gates opening, not sure, but there was a market press to say he’s here to rumble, and now the stable finds Jimmy Orman, so watch the market.

6 Zingalong (Bet Now: $1.95) tends to save his best for the home deck at the Sunny Coast but I think he’s flying. Game second first up at Eagle Farm before going to a Friday night meeting at the Sunny Coast where he led throughout and gave his rivals a spanking. He’ll land on the bunny and prove hard to run down.

3 Confessed (Bet Now: $4.60) is knocking on the door to win and back to Mares grade, she’ll take a power of beating here. Two lengths off a future Stakes class horse in Wuthot Revenge two back at the Sunny Coast before going to Eagle Farm and she was excellent late from the back behind Five Crowns. She looks extremely hard to beat here.

7 Giulia (Bet Now: $5.00) looks well suited up to 1350m. This mare resumed a fortnight back at Eagle Farm when on speed and she qfought on quite gamely, only getting run down late by Better Get Set. Proven at this distance range, she has the upside compared to most and the right racing pattern.

4 Sienna’s Choice (Bet Now: $7.00) isn’t far off a win. Just think this might be a prep run for something next start. Ran over the mile at Eagle Farm last time when on speed and I actually thought she stuck to the task pretty well in defeat behind an in form Too Much Class. Back in trip the negative but will be strong late.

Hard to get away from 5 Drive A Deel (Bet Now: $1.75). Rob Heathcoate has this mare absolutely flying at the moment. Dominant win three weeks ago at this track/distance on testing ground where she lapped up the conditions and was much too good late. Gets an ideal map once again and firmer footing is no issue.

8 Too Much Class (Bet Now: $6.50) gives the impression she would be suited at 2000m but she does seem quite effective at the 1600m-1800m distance range. Dominant win over this trip at Eagle Farm at the midweeks when settling off the speed and finishing best to win impressively. Confident she measures up.

4 Command King (Bet Now: $17.00) is progressive and heading in the right direction. Had the A1 run in transit at Ipswich last time. Angled clear at the right time and finished best to wear down Gentle Prince. There is a bit of depth to this line up, but hard to knock the way he’s racing.

1 Northern Express (Bet Now: $11.00) is hard fit now and I do think Blinkers first time is a big tick. I was keen on him over 1200m here last time but the tempo was a crawl and that didn’t suit him. He was just outsprinted but stayed on and was sound in defeat. Hard fit now, his best is certainly good enough.

2 Stroll (Bet Now: $3.40) is a quality filly for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp that resumes. She hasn’t raced since the Bill Carter during the Brisbane Winter Carnival when geting a peach by Pike and in a driving go, finished best. You’d think is resuming with an eye towards the Magic Millions Guineas, but I think 1200m fresh tells me she’s forward enough to run a positive race. Watch the market.

5 Chayse N Artie (Bet Now: $16.00) is a promising animal resuming for Les Kelly. He was unlucky in The Phoenix behind Political Debate before getting too far back in the Tatts Stakes but was good late. He looks a Magic Millions Guineas horse for sure and with two trials under the belt, he’s had a decent enough grounding IMO.

16 Holstein (Bet Now: $13.00) looks to have come back in pretty good order for Matty Dunn. Close up when resuming at Ipswich behind Oriental Princess before going to Eagle Farm over 1400m and I liked the way he finished his race off behind Very Intoxicating. If this was a mile, I’d declare him…just 1350m is the knock, but he’s ready to win.

3 Alburq (Bet Now: $4.00) is flying for Brian Smith and is hard to beat despite a tricky gate. Game second to an in form Extremist first up before a sharp win at Eagle Farm two weeks ago, getting the suck run behind the speed before getting clear air and drove hard late to win nicely. Leading contender.

11 Loveplanet (Bet Now: $18.00) is capable with his best…just not sure where he is at. He hasn’t raced since Toowoomba Cup Day when down the track behind Couldn’t Refuse. Has been given a mini let up and a tick over trial to get ready, so I think watch the market and see what it does.

2 Holyfield (Bet Now: $5.00) on top in a seemingly open edition of the Keith Noud. He resumes for Annabel Neasham, having not raced since July 16 at Eagle Farm when producing an end of prep run behind the then in form Tokoriki Lad. Not a noted fresh horse, but his two trials have been excellent and he should get a suck run from the gate.

9 Proper Rogue (Bet Now: $3.80) deserves a crack at this race. Tony Gollan has him absolutely flying and I don’t think he’s just a wet tracker, as seen when winning over 1050m here two back. He then stepped up to this trip three weeks ago and lapped up the wet track to win impressively. Hard fit, in form, he appeals for sure.

3 Bandipur (Bet Now: $31.00) returns home and has the right racing pattern to give this a shake. He ran down the straight at Flemington on Cup Day and while he was well held, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind a handy horse in Vespertine. Last bit will test but he’ll give a good sight.

I’ll take a chance on 7 Arentee (Bet Now: $4.00), who resumes for Chris Meagher. He had a one run prep in the early part of the Spring, which came here, where he was pretty plain late behind Grey Defence. Given a good let up and his trial win indicates he’s right on track. I’ll take a chance on him bringing his best.

The last bit of 1200m will be the test for 5 Orbisyn (Bet Now: $4.20) but he’s a quality animal when right. Resumed over 1100m at Ipswich where he led throughout and despite being out of petrol tickets on the line, he got the win. If he gets the lead and gets it cheap, he’ll take beating.

6 Petronius (Bet Now: $17.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Gary Moore, he spent a short time with Tasha Chambers and won a trial for her but is now with Barry Lockwood, who is one of the best in Queensland when it comes to tried horses. This horse was Saturday class in Sydney when right, so if Lockwood can get him right, gee he’d take beating in a race like this, and his trial win for Lockwood was sharp, so watch the market.

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 16 Holstein
