The Brisbane Winter Carnival continues this Saturday at the Gold Coast for Hollindale Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

9 Bestower (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Kris Lees trained mare that ran on Anzac Day on the Kenso. She ran third to Collect Your Cash and she kept finding the line despite no turn of foot, closing nicely the last 100m or so. 2200m should be fine, strong late and can take this out.

7 Mistressofillusion (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Chris Waller trained mare who is racing well and appeals here as a key chance. She ran over 2400m two weeks ago at Eagle Farm when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a good effort in defeat behind Dillian, who is going to be considered for The Q22, so that form reads super for this and back to 2200m is a big tick.

5 Hector De Maris (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Eagle Farm. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but couldn’t quite see it through, feeling the pinch late behind Phillipsburg. I think with a bunny to chase, he’ll be more effective.

Hard to get away from 8 John Rambo (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He ran at Doomben on April 23 where he was absolutely trucking in the run before being clicked up and away he went to gap them. The gate is tricky but hard to knock the way he’s going.

1 Metalart (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Kelly Schweida trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since Jan 25 when an impressive winner at the Sunny Coast, making it two on the bounce before being spelled. Very genuine animal who will be strong late.

13 Emperor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fifth to John Rambo in the race mentioned above. He got badly held up in behind them and I think he should have finished much closer. If the breaks go his way, he can threaten at odds.

4 Torabella (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1400m after resuming over 1200m three weeks ago at Eagle Farm behind Exotique Miss. She did early work from the wide gate and that early brun just told on her late in the piece. Not sacking her and has good upside to come.

5 Exotique Miss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned with a bang and is one of the hardest to beat after a first up win three weeks ago at Eagle Farm where she got into a decent spot off the speed before angling wider and she got better as the race went on to win and win well. Keen to see how she goes at Stakes grade after that electric performance.

3 Poetic Drama (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m after resuming two weeks back over 1300m at Eagle Farm where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never a winning threat, she did find the line really well in defeat I thought behind Rockribbed. Fitter, up in trip, back to Mares grade, she’s in the mix.

3 Boom Torque (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. Matty Dunn trained gelding that is first up, with his last run coming in the Magic Millions QTIS when a close up third to Hidden Wealth. Loved his recent trial and good lead with B Shinn booked.

12 Need Some Luck (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very genuine horse and appeals. He resumed with a bang three weeks ago at Randwick where he had to knuckle down late in order to get the win and loved the way he dug in late to win and win well. Good test here but confident he can measure up.

16 Redford (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Stuart Kendrick trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since an end of prep run in the Magic Millions QTIS. Given a good break and his trial work to get ready has been strong, so watch betting.

9 Sunrays (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a rocket for Kelly Schweida. 3/3 to start her career, the latest run coming in the Jewel Prelude at Doomben where she did early work and was there to be beaten bt class kicked in and was too good. She’ll get back but be very strong late.

3 Beadman (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is progressive but gee he looks short. He does have J Mac aboard and comes here off the back of a dominant win at Newcastle, but I will say the margin was only two lengths and he beat camels. He can win, clearly, but is too short at the moment.

6 Brave Jet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a couple of weeks between runs since a win at Toowoomba where he gave them a start and a beating, letting down with real purpose late to win well. He’ll spot them a start but he should be strong late.

1 Bosustow (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is just better than these isn’t he? Emirate…jury is out for mine. Bosustow gave them a start and a beating in the MM Guineas, then went to NZ and ran second to Here To Shock in a big Group l. He meets this lot at set weights, and yes, has eyes I dare say on the Stradbroke, but the stable is flying and class wise, I just think he has lengths on these.

2 Emirate (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the more fascinating runners on the program. Talented animal for Chris Waller that resumes, having not raced since the Golden Rose where I thought he ran a super race in defeat behind Broadsiding. He has trialled up super and does have class so watch betting.

5 Hella Fast (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1200m. He resumed in the Mick Dittman two weeks back where he got back off the speed and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was a definite pass mark. Fitter and up in trip, he appeals.

2 Buckaroo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class on his side and I’ll back that class in to get him home. He hasn’t raced since the Queen Elizabeth where he was second up and I thought ran very well in defeat behind Via Sistina, much like his first up run in the George Ryder. Been aimed at this Carnvial and he is an elite WFA horse. The one to beat, and clearly.

1 Antino (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since resuming in the All Aged at Randwick. It was just an ugly watch if you were on so forgive and forget the run behind Jimmysstar. Better set up here and he does have class in his own right.

8 Eliyass (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a horse I am very interested in. He resumes for GaiBott after dodging the Autumn. He showed really good promise in the Spring, but by the end, he looked a tired horse, so forgive the last start flop. Given a good break and has trialled up very well for the return. He commands respect.

1 Real Class (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has eyes on the QLD Oaks but she looks to be humming. She has been freshened up since the Vinery Stud where she got back off the muddling tempo and couldn’t quite dash with them behind Treasurethe Moment. Tick over trial looked fabulous and yes she’ll spot them a start but be strong late.

4 Pinito (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1800m. She ran a fortnight back in the Princess Stakes where she got off speed and kept chasing with purpose in the straight but was no match for Philia. Extra 200m should be no issue and she does have that sense of timing.

15 Autumngirl (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run first four at a big price. She ran behind Philia in the Princess Stakes where she got to near last in the run and while she was never a winning threat, she did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat. Has a gate to settle much closer and be effective late.

1 Nettuno (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a drop in depth after resuming three weeks back in the Ascot Handicap. He got back off the speed, spotted those in front a start, but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. His best is clearly good enough to take this out.

Convinced that 11 Avone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying…but the riders they are choosing for this mare are scary. Courtney Bellamy hasn’t give her the best of steers in both runs back from a spell and now they find Cody Collis, a rider I am finding hard to trust. But, the mare has returned really well and she likes getting her toe in.

7 Bews (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Stuart Kendrick trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Jan 25 at the Sunny Coast when back and making up headway without threatening over 1200m behind Metalart. Just one soft trial but flies fresh so watch betting.

BEST BET: Race Six Number 1 Bosustow

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 2 Buckaroo

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 1 Real Class
