10/12/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Sandown

3 Cantolago (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top. Team Hayes trains this daughter of Per Incanto, who has had a couple of Flemington jumpouts to get ready, the latest seeing her lead throughout and she looked to move really in front. This looks a pretty thin 2YO race and with the Hayes/Williams combination, she’ll do me.

1 Energized (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a colt with talent. Godolphin son of Brazen Beau that trialled okay in Sydney before coming to the Flemington stable, where he jumped out there and moved pretty well to my eye in a good piece of work. Stable is having a mixed run with their juveniles but overall, this is a winnable race.

5 Down Low (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Deep Field filly on debut for the Price/Kent camp. She jumped out a couple of weeks back over 800m at Cranbourne and went about her business nicely when third in a solid time relative to the morning. Market will be interesting with her and whether it likes her or not.

8 Accountability (Bet Now:  $SP.00) keeps sucking me in but he’s a big enough price to keep specking. He ran last time out at Warrnambool and was never a factor given where he was in the run but the last 100m or so, he was good to the line. Like him up to 2400m and if he’s not too far away, I think he’s going well enough to be a threat at a massive price.

5 Jayrod Too (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will give a sight on speed. Credit to him, he was there to be beaten when racing on the Lakeside track here last time out when leading but he just kept finding under Froggy to fend them off and win. He’s a stayer so 2400m here should be fine and he’s only third up here so he should have room for improvement.

6 Miss Five Hundred (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can fill a first four spot at a price. She is the one with good upside given she is only third up from a spell. Not too bad behind Jayrod Too in the race mentioned above and is a horse who does have a liking for the track. Not sure she wins, but one for wider multiples.

I find it very interesting that 11 Girl (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was scratched from a much weaker race at Hamilton on Tuesday in preference for this. A sign of confidence perhaps? Can make a case to say she should have won on debut at Ballarat before making amends at Bendigo and made a mess of them in a dominant display. Few of these look quite limited whereas she has upside/talent.

2 Midtown Boss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Teamn Kav. Got a beaut sit behind the speed last time on the Lakeside track here and once Shinn was able to shove into clear air with him, he went through his gears nicely and was able to safely hold a talented horse, Corner Off. 1400m looks fine and this is a winnable race.

Bigger track and more ground are two big ticks for 5 Calico Jack (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He was 1300m back to 1200m at Cranbourne last time and was good late without threatening stablemate and promising animal Garza Blanca. If he is able to settle closer in the run, I think he’ll take beating against this lot.

10 Arktika (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has pretty good form around her, which is certainly reading well enough to take this race out. Wide no cover at Flemington on Oaks Day and stuck to the task well enough in defeat behind stablemate Matron Bullwinkel. Think she’ll take beating if there is petrol left in the tank.

9 Austrata (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks like he is enjoying life under the care of Lindsey Smith. He resumed over 1400m on the Lakeside track when wide no cover for the trip and toughed it out really well in defeat when third to a handy horse, Saint Of Katowice. Saves his best for Sandown and like him up to the mile.

7 Son Of Emperor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has got the talent to be dangerous in a race like this. He is second up for the Price/Kent camp after resuming over the mile at The Valley where he led at a pretty solid clip but couldn’t sustain it and tired late to finish down the track behind Savannah Cloud. Best efforts have come when second up, and that will be his saving grace in what is, overall, a thin race.

6 Detonator Jack (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets to the mile now and with that, I am quite keen on his chances. Resumed over 1400m on Cup Day at Flemington and was dynamic in winning. He stayed at the trip on Ballarat Cup Day and that brought him undone I thought, getting pipped late by another promising horse, Green Fly. Now gets to the mile, hard fit, firmer deck, keen.

7 Green Fly (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the only other winning hope. He’s had an identical prep to Detonator Jack. Resumed on Cup Day and ran fourth to the horse mentioned above before going to Ballarat where he found the best ground and launched late to win nicely. The gate is tricky for him, but he’s a horse loaded with talent.

I think back on firmer footing can see 9 Pounding (Bet Now:  $SP.00) get back into positive form. The track was too shifty for him at Ballarat last time but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Our Redente in testing conditions. He’s a dry track horse, he gets onto the firm deck here…he’ll be a first four threat.

8 Belle Et Riche (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned in pretty good order for Mitch Freedman. Resumed a few weeks back on Ballarat Cup Day and warmed to the task nicely late from the back when second to progressive mare, Hypothetical. Has done little wrong in her six start career and finds a winnable Saturday metro race IMO. Hard to beat.

The blinkers aren’t on yet for 7 So You See (Bet Now:  $SP.00) so that’s why she isn’t on top. She was there to beat Life Lessons first up but on the line, she was defely held by the Moody horse, who did have a fitness edge. Staying at 1400m, Blinkers remain on, it looks a prep run set up, but she has the class/quality.

6 Cardigan Queen (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has too much talent to pen off one run. Very good fresh in the Black Pearl at Geelong before going to the Pendant at Cranbourne when wide no cover for the trip and tired late in a clear forgive. Drops back to 78 grade and if she runs up to the first up effort, she just about wins.

13 Princess Rhaenys (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has good upside to come and is better suited here. Ran very well fresh on Oaks Day in the Inglis Bracelet before going to the Eclipse where she got back to near last in the run and couldn’t come on behind Milford. Much better suited in a race like this and should be hard to beat.

5 Right You Are (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the 2000m run under the belt now which should hold him in good stead for this. Close up third over 1800m on Oaks Day before going to 2000m at Ballarat where he couldn’t quite quicken when Melham wanted to go but picked up late and was good to the line behind Fifth Position. Gets back onto a dry track and has upside compared to most.

If you can trust the run from 2 El Gladiator (Bet Now:  $SP.00) in the Eclipse, then he has to be hard to beat against these. He started $101 in the Eclipse but ran a beauty, working home strongly from off the speed to run second to a pretty solid performer in Milford. Just has to hold his form to be around the mark against these.

12 Mac N Cheese (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can bounce back. She is flying this girl but the rub of the green hasn’t really gone her way the past couple. Close up third at Flemington on Cup Day behind Larkspur Run before going to the Summoned at Caulfield where not much went her way and should have finished a touch closer. If she gets clear air, and is within range, she can take this out.

10 Riot And Rose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the runs on the board to give this a shake. He was kept safe in betting when resuming at Ballarat after over 12 months off and I thought was a definite pass mark behind Green Fly. Second up syndrome is a possibility but he has really good form from last prep to give this a shake.

4 High N Dry (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is better suited over further and although there is depth to this race, he is worth a small speck at the big price. 1200m is on the short side for him but he is a horse who can sprint well fresh, his jumpout work indicates he’s returned well and he will be strong late off what looks a genuine tempo.

8 Elite Icon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a touch hit and miss, but he has the talent under the hood to give this a shake. Too bad to be true at Ballarat last time, whether he didn’t handle the track or the rise to 1100m, not sure, but I am just penning that run. Jump/run, 1000m, dry track, that is his set up, so he can win this for sure.

14 Stabler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. 2/2 this time in for Paul Preusker, the latest coming at the midweeks at Bendigo where he was given a peach by Yendall and he just got better as the race went on for a strong win. There is a bit of depth to this line up, but have to respect the stable when they come to town.

10 Red Hot Nicc (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a dry track horse and back to 1000m is a big, big tick. Game second first up over 955m at The Valley before going to 1100m at Ballarat where he found the trip too far, especially on the shifty track, finishing down the track. Back in trip and on a firmer deck, he can bounce back.

BEST BET: Race Five Number 6 Detonator Jack

NEXT BEST: Race One Number 3 Cantolago

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 12 Mac N Cheese
