10/12/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Moonee Valley

I’m with 5 Lady Court (Bet Now: $2.35) in the opener. Peter Moody trained filly that is having her second career outing after a strong debut win at Pakenham. Market found her at big odds and loved the way she dug in when required to get the job done. Good test for here, but think she’s up to it.

3 Invincible Crown (Bet Now: $4.60) finally got the maiden win out of the way last time out, now can he go on with it? The win came over 1500m here two weeks ago in what was really survival of the fittest and he came out on top, just. Now he has a win under the belt, he can win again.

7 Miss Cheviots (Bet Now: $5.50) drops a fair bit in class/depth after contesting the Twilight Glow at Caulfield where the race shape was clearly against her but didn’t mind the way she finished her race off behind Lady Of Honour. Can sit much closer in the run from the good draw and be dangerous.

12 Riverina Cyclone (Bet Now: $2.70) looks the obvious. Matt Laurie has this mare going really well at the moment but she can’t quite crack it for a win. Looked like it would come here two weeks ago but couldn’t finish it off when beaten a lip by Invincible Crown. Gets a great chance here to break the maiden tag.

7 Alverdun (Bet Now: $4.20) has done little wrong in three career outings, placing each time, the latest being at this track/distance when on speed and tried hard when a narrow second to Sheer Treasure, who bloused them out wide late. Gets a soft run from the draw and commands respect.

10 Princess Tina (Bet Now: $17.00) is big odds here. Two back she contested the Sheer Treasure race and closed off pretty well when fourth. She then went to Geelong and was good late behind Ashy Boy when third. Not sure she can win, but for exotics, I think you have to include her.

I’ll take a chance with 3 Matao Ma (Bet Now: $2.50), who returns as a gelding for the Price/Kent camp. The form around him from as a juvenile does read so well, including efforts behind Finance Tycoon and the Stakes performed Prince Alexander. Two jumpouts to get ready suggests he’s wound right up for a first up assault.

6 Treporti (Bet Now: $2.60) is a talented animal for Danny O’Brien that will win races, but he’s becoming somewhat frustrating from a punters perspective. Resumed over 1200m at Sandown when doing work on speed but gave a good kick and for a few strides looked home, but was no match late for Squid Game. Hard to beat against these.

4 Surcote (Bet Now: $7.50) can be an improver here. He was kept very safe in the market in the Squid Game race mentioned above. He was quite keen in the run and that early burn just told on his finale late. Has the Waller polish to iron out that issue and good lead that Williams sticks.

7 Sacred Lass (Bet Now: $2.70) is bursting to win a race in town and I think she gets a great chance here. Ran over this track/distance two weeks ago and for mine, she was given a peach by Lloyd, just failing to pick up Rousseau, who was good in defeat at Rosehill last Saturday, so the form reads well. Just needs luck from the draw.

Bit to like about the way 4 La Spezia (Bet Now: $5.50) goes about it. 2/2 this time in, winning fresh at Warrnambool before racing over the mile here where she was on speed and fighting hard, surging late to get up and win. Is a winner at the trip so the rise in distance is no issue and you’d like to think there is upside to come.

3 Wanalirri (Bet Now: $13.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over the mile here last Friday night where she didn’t get the rub of the green at a vital stage and should have finished closer behind Soaring Eagle. Unknown at the trip, but last start showed I think she’ll be okay.

Looks to be an absolute stack of speed here, so want to be on a swooper and that is 12 Estoril Park (Bet Now: $5.00). I was with her when she raced here three weeks ago in a Heat of this Series. I think with clear air, she just about wins instead of a third to Sweetzou. Drawn out, she’ll get clear air and last look.

7 Kev’s Girl (Bet Now: $3.20) looks a progressive mare. I just worry from gate one what sort of work she’ll need to do to hold a forward spot. She ran second in the Sweetzou race when wide no cover and fought on bravely given she was entitled to knock up. If she can hold up without spending too many petrol tickets, she’ll be around the mark.

13 Gulf Of Aden (Bet Now: $8.00) should be suited back to 955m. Strong maiden win fresh at Kyneton over 1200m before racing over 1200m on the Lakeside track at Sandown when on speed and tiring late behind Guardian Spirit, who looks talented. Back to 955m with early speed, he can bounce back in what looks a winnable race.

12 Pitchanun (Bet Now: $3.90) on top. Danny O’Brien trained mare who doesn’t have the best of winning strike rates, but she is honest and is usually around the mark. Ran over the mile at Pakenham last time out where she was hailed as the winner when she was presented but couldn’t finish it off and was outgunned. Maps super from the gate and is a safe option.

7 Starspangled Baby (Bet Now: $4.50) is racing really well at the moment. Narrow second here two back before going to the Traralgon Cup where she was game from just off the speed when second to a proven metro performer, Huntly Castle. Deserves to win one and gets a great chance here.

10 Sheer Treasure (Bet Now: $4.40) will need luck from the tricky gate but she looks to have talent for Team Hawkes. Big win from her to break the maiden tag at this track/distance last time when sprouting wings from near last in the run. Will need to produce something similar to win here.

5 Laundy (Bet Now: $2.35) has returned in good order for the Busuttin/Young camp. Backed with confidence when racing over the mile at the Valley and under a lovely ride from Richards, the gelding finished best to win well. Maps to get a sweet trip in transit and is in well after the claim.

1 The Regiment (Bet Now: $4.40) certainly has somewhat of a class edge on this lot. Just depends on whether he has that winning desire or not. Ran over the mile in the Donald Cup last start when on speed and for a few strides was hailed as the winner but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Portland Jimmy. 2040m should be okay and with a soft lead, he could take running down.

The key to 11 Packer’s Bond (Bet Now: $9.00) might well be 2000m given he is 2/2 at the trip, his last start being a strong win over the trip on Kilmore Cup Day. He has always shown talent but at times has been wayward. He’s in good form and deserves another crack at metro level.

5 Clemenceau (Bet Now: $2.05) looks the best on the night. I could easily get him down to odds on. Smart looking type for Team Hawkes that smashed the clock from the front when winning fresh at Hawkesbury when beating a talented animal in Pizarro. Stable produced a good one a couple of weeks ago to win the last and I think they’ll do it again here.

Fitter and up to 1200m are two big ticks for 6 Transplant (Bet Now: $4.60). Thrown in the deep end somewhat first up in the 3&4YO Magic Millions race at Ballarat and she worked to the line with purpose late behind Aquagirl. If she can sit closer in the run, I think she’ll be dangerous.

16 Salamanders (Bet Now: $14.00) will need luck from a tricky draw but she does have talent. Resumed at this track/distance three weeks back and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Gloves Are Off after getting held up for a few strides. Doubt she beats Clemenceau, but one for exotics.

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 12 Riverina Cyclone

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 12 Estoril Park
