Chairman’s Stakes 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Chairman’s Stakes
Race 1. (12:15) John Moule (Bm90) 1200m
I was thinking 1 It’s Business Time (Bet Now: $SP.00) would run very well in the Bellmaine but here, I think she’s the good thing on the program. Mark Walker trains this former Kiwi mare, who makes her Australian debut off the back of two very sharp jumpouts at Cranbourne. I think she is Stakes class. The rest of these are not. I think good luck beating her.
7 New York Lustre (Bet Now: $SP.00) was another that was down to run in the Bellmaine but has opted for the benchmark option. She has won her past two, the latest at Flemington down the straight where she got better as the race went on to win and win well. Good test here, but confident meaasures up.
2 Bellinger (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Team Hayes since racing at Geelong. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job behind Title Fighter. Has run well at the track/distance previously and has a good racing style.
Race 2. (12:45) Henley Homes (Bm100) 2400m
2 First Immortal (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. Team Kav trained gelding that ran over 2000m at Flemington two weeks ago where he got back in a slowly run race and while he was never a winning threat, I really liked the way he closed off late in the piece behind Shaiyhar. Fitter and up to a more suitable trip, off that run, he takes beating.
5 Night Endeavour (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found positive form and he can go on with it for Ciaron Maher. He ran behind Shaihyar a fortnight back at Flemington and kept finding the line in a pretty good effort in defeat I thought. He is at peak fitness now and strikes a very winnable race.
6 Beltoro (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a slight query at the trip but to offset, the tempo will be a crawl and he has the change up speed to be quite dangerous. He comes through the Shaihyar race where he was off speed and under pressure when the sprint but he kept on and was good in defeat. Small field/slow tempo helps, he commands respect.
Race 3. (13:20) Robert Hunter (Bm74) 2400m
1 Goldenstatewarrior (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Ciaron Maher, four weeks between runs since a strong win over this trip at Geelong where he gave them a start and a beating to win and win well in a race which had more depth than what he faces here and takes beating against these.
3 Roaring Engine (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 2500m at Flemington when off speed and kept chasing without threatening in a solid enough effort in defeat behind impressive winner Taramansour. If he can settle closer and be within range, he can win.
7 Matron Bullwinkel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 2100m here where she got back off speed and was an eye catcher late in the piece behind impressive winner Kings Valley. Fitter and up in trip, she only runs well.
Race 4. (13:55) Ive > (Bm70) 1400m
11 New York Scandal (Bet Now: $SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps for Jack Laing. She ran down the straight at Flemington last time where she was held up at times but got clear and was good late in the piece behind Dazzling Lucy. Like her up in trip on the bending track and the depth here is nowhere near as deep.
6 First Mate (Bet Now: $SP.00) is bursting to win for Kylie Vela. He ran over this trip at Werribee last time out when on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when second to impressive winner Tatsu. He has versatility re racing pattern and has run well in town before.
8 Delta Sky (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another look. She was a total forgive three weeks back at Flemington when wide no cover and that early burn just told late in the piece. Better run in transit her and back to 1400m, she can bounce back.
Race 5. (14:30) Chairman's Stakes 1000m
4 Tentyris (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on debut for Team Freedman. This guy has had a couple of jumpouts in readiness for start one, the latest coming at Cranbourne when near the speed and moved well enough I thought when second to Samudra. He’s an obvious yard/market watch.
2 Forceofone (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Hayes colt by Super Seth that is on debut. This guy went like a jet in a jumpout at Werribee, winning comfortably to my eye and ran decent time. Tricky draw but will press forward and take holding out.
8 Boa Vista (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Price/Kent trained filly that is on debut. She has had two jumpouts in readiness for start one, both at Cranbouren and seemed to move well enough. Stable can get them ready at start one so keen to see how she goes. Watch betting.
Race 6. (15:05) Quayclean (Bm70) 1000m
2 Don’t Hope Do (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Simon Zahra trained gelding that hasn’t raced since Dec 7 when a strong winner on Ballarat Cup Day over 1100m. He was on speed throughout and trucking before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. Keen to see how he goes.
13 Mighty (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect. She has been pretty good in two runs back from a spell. Ran just under two weeks ago at Flemington down the straight when off speed and kept finding the line in defeat behind Dazzling Lucy. Back to a fast run 1000m, she’ll launch late.
10 Trapeze Warrior (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect. Phillip Stokes trained galloper that has done his recent racing in strong races and for the most part has been quite good, the latest run being on New Years Day at Flemington when far from disgraced behind Redoute’s Night. Form around him reads well and despite the gate, is clearly a leading chance.
Race 7. (15:40) Mal Seccull (Bm70) 1800m
6 Mr Verse (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top for Team McEvoy. Last couple of runs have come at Seymour, making a mess of them two back in a maiden before going to the mile there where he got too far back but really liked the way he closed off in defeat. Has a gate to settle much closer in the run and Shinn sticks.
1 Garnacho (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a three year old on the up for Team Browne and rates highly off the back of a win at Flemington a fortnight back. He wasn’t really suited I thought by the sit/sprint set up but he overcame it and knuckled down with purpose late to win in good style. He’ll eat up 1800m and rates highly I say.
3 His Finest Hour (Bet Now: $SP.00) has an engine under the hood. Price/Kent trained three year old that won on debut over the mile at Pakenham. The win had merit given he chased down a nice horse and was a mess behind the gates. Has a few quirks but has talent and confident he measures up.
Race 8. (16:15) Sportsbet Race Replays (Bm78) 1800m
6 Revelare (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the most obvious after winning here last Saturday. He got the beaut sit in behind and despite being asked to go earlier than expected, he found under pressure to win. Good test here, but confident he measures up.
5 Nishino Crescent (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing well for Henry Dwyer and commands respect off the back of a win a fortnight back at Flemington at this trip, getting the right run in transit and finished best to win and win well. The rise to 78 grade is fine and hard to knock the way he’s going.
9 Nana’s Wish (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Flemington. She got a decent enough run in transit and loomed large to win but couldn’t quite finish the job when third to One Long Day, who went within a lip of winning again, so the form reads well and the rise in trip is fine.
Race 9. (16:55) Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes 1200m
6 Tashi (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks here to run really well I say. Peter Snowden trained mare that resumes, having not raced since July 17 when placing in the Ramornie behind stablemate Ka Bling. Given a good break to target the Autumn and get some blacktype, and her trial work to get ready has been strong.
3 Fancify (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beauty for Michael Hickmott. She resumes after a fab Spring prep, which ended with a win on Cup Day in the HKJC. Better suited over further vs 1200m but has jumped out well enough to my eye and her racing style is suited to this track.
12 Cheval Chic (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous back to Mares grade after racing three weeks back in the Standish. She was outclassed on paper but she ran an absolute beauty in defeat, looming to win but couldn’t quite get there when fourth to It’sourtime. Back to this level, bending track and fitter, she takes beating.
Race 10. (17:35) Sportsbet More Places (Bm84) 1400m
7 Lethal Thoughts (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win and I think he gets a great chance here. He got a beaut ride at Flemington two weeks ago and loomed to win but found one better in impressive winner Is It Me. Hard fit, in form, strong late, he appeals.
11 Name Dropper (Bet Now: $SP.00) lands on speed and will take running down, as seen three weeks ago at Flemington where he got front end control and credit to him, he was there to be run down but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. He’ll take running down.
10 Impending Link (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Flemington. He got a suck run from the inside gate and loomed large to win but couldn’t quite get there when third to on speed winner Name Dropper. Hard to knock how genuine he is and strikes a winnable race.
