Race 1. (11:58) Glenfiddich At Aquis 2Yo 1000m
There are a couple of nice looking youngsters here. 2 Heroic Eagle (Bet Now: $3.30) isn’t bred to be anything special but I was taken by a recent trial win at Deagon over 650m. He led throughout to win the trial, wasn’t asked for an effort and ran very fast time relative to the morning. Jump/run type, professional, he’ll take beating.
1 Felix The Scat (Bet Now: $3.40) is on the seven day back up after debuting last Saturday in the Pat O’Shea at Toowoomba. He was run off his legs and never a factor, but did pick up very late and was good in defeat. He’ll take good improvement off that and does have the race day experience.
3 Mishani Renegade (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Les Ross trained gelding that resumes and I do think he is the pick of the stable. He was a trial winner at the Sunny Coast and looked to move well to my eye. Stable can produce some handy juveniles early in the season so watch the market.
Race 2. (12:33) Global Engr. & Constr. (Bm78) 2400m
2 Otyrar (Bet Now: $2.90) for me. Chris Waller trained stayer that is over two weeks between runs since a strong win at the midweeks at Doomben where he drove hard late and finishing best to wear down and in form Jakkalberry Finn. He tends to race well with relatively fresh legs and the way he finds the line, 2400m should be fine.
5 Za Ceibas (Bet Now: $4.40) can bounce back into the winners list. Close up third to Blacklog two back before going to the Gold Coast two weeks ago where he rolled forward to lead and he gave a solid kick but had no answers late for Tappy’s Lad, who had the suck run and finished best. I reckon with a bunny to chase, Za Ceibas will improve enough to win.
3 Tappy’s Lad (Bet Now: $6.00) has done little wrong since arriving in Australia. It was survival of the fittest at the Gold Coast a fortnight back and with those NZ staying bloodlines, he was always going to be strong late and that he was, just wearing down Ze Ceibas. The rise to 2400m looks ideal and is hard to beat.
Race 3. (13:08) Workforce Success Hcp 1400m
Gee 1 Plundering (Bet Now: $1.85) looks a nice horse. 2/2 to start his career for Annabel Neasham. Arrognat debut win at the Sunny Coast before going to the Gold Coast two weeks ago where the change up speed he produced when asked was that of a Stakes horse and he spanked them. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t interest from Hong Kong for him because he does look better than this level. Should make it 3/3.
2 Boom Court (Bet Now: $3.10) is a talented three year old for Desleigh Forster that was a first up maiden winner at this track/distance before coming back to 1350m at Doomben where he did work to get on speed and was run down late by Narnia. Back to the Eagle Farm 1400m, and with a more patient steer, he can bounce back.
4 Honkytonk Diva (Bet Now: $8.00) looks to be in for a good prep. Resumed three weeks back at Doomben where she was tough on speed and was first past the post, but lost the race on protest to Prince Shalaa, shifting out at a crucial stage. Good return though and fitter, up to 1400m, she’s in with a shout.
Race 4. (13:43) Dd Group International (Bm75) 1800m
7 Moktaffy (Bet Now: $3.10) has found winning form and no reason why he can’t hold it. Lovely ride from Orman saw him win time out at Eagle Farm, getting the ideal drag into the race and finishing best out wide. He’s really found form since coming to Queensland and is hard to beat against these.
10 Too Much Class (Bet Now: $9.00) deserves another look. Forgive and forget her run last Wednesday at Doomben because the track became bottomless due to heavy rain and she isn’t effective when getting her feet wet. Much better suited on the firm deck here and prior form was strong.
3 So Dapper (Bet Now: $21.00) should be suited up to 1800m. Pass mark for sure fresh at the Gold Coast behind the in form Harlequin Field. He then went to the mile at Doomben when near the speed throughout and dropped out, running a shocker. Like him up in trip and off a forgive run, he can run an improved race at odds.
Race 5. (14:18) Bbht Hcp 1000m
8 Pizonie (Bet Now: $11.00) saves his best for Eagle Farm so at odds, I’ll back him each way. He resumed over 900m at the Gold Coast on testing ground in a scamper, so really, it was an ordinary set up and he ran accordingly behind Princess Lunar. Saves his best for the Eagle Farm 1000m, so I think he’s worth a peanut each way.
Good test here for 1 Weona Smartone (Bet Now: $1.85) but it was hard not to be impressed by the win fresh at Doomben. He was working hard on speed and was there to be beaten throughout in the straight, but he found when required and dug in superbly to win. If he gets a cheap run, he’ll be quite effective.
The best version of 3 Racecourse Road (Bet Now: $15.00) can see him threaten. Just copped too much heat on speed and tired late fresh behind Shamrock Lu before going to Doomben when on a fast speed again and tiring late behind Weona Smartone. If he is able to take a sit off the speed, he can bounce back.
Race 6. (14:57) Staffco Labour Hire Hcp 1000m
6 On Hold (Bet Now: $19.00) looks a nice horse. David Vandyke trained filly that debuted just under two weeks ago at the Sunny Coast where she was backed with confidence and despite doing plenty wrong, she had a bit on them and was dominant on the line. Should take good improvement from and clearly has more upside than most, plus has the Vandyke polish.
8 Flaming Conquest (Bet Now: $2.50) is a jump/run type that is suited to the Eagle Farm 1000m. She has won her past two, winning at this track/distance before a strong win at Doomben where she was there to be run down but found and safely held her rivals. Last bit will test, but hard to knock the way she’s going.
9 Even Now (Bet Now: $16.00) is in with a shout. Scratched from town and went to a moderate race at Kilcoy where she looked a moral on paper and was ridden that way by Du Plessis, sitting on speed before taking the front on the turn and drawing clear late. Harder here, but she’s in form and has a good racing pattern.
Race 7. (15:37) Ken Ford Final Race (Bm75) 1000m
1 Gemelon Bolt (Bet Now: $7.00) draws wide, but has great early toe and with a 3kg claiming apprentice, he’ll jump/run and prove hard to beat. Tick over three weeks runs since a strong win at this track/distance where he was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure to fend them off and win. He’ll do me in a tricky race.
10 Dynamic Duo (Bet Now: $16.00) is a big improver back on the firmer deck. He’s bred to swim but his raceday form suggests he doesn’t like getting his feet wet. Impressive win fresh before being good late behind Sweet Margot May. He then went to the Gold Coast and found the track too wet behind Far Too Easy. He can bounce back big time against these.
4 Mix (Bet Now: $15.00) has home ground advantage and commands respect. Lee Freedman trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since May 7 over 1400m at the Gold Coast on Hollindale Day when struggling on the heavy track behind Seleque. Better on firmer footing, which he gets here, and his trials have been strong.
Race 8. (16:17) Nat Mccall Racing (Bm90) 1600m
2 Bottega (Bet Now: $3.80) has a bit on these re class and I love how well placed he has been under Lee Freedman. Could have easily gone towards Stakes races given his runs in Sydney, but they have placed him to advantage to win in races, get his confidence up, and with two wins this prep, his confidence should be sky high. Hard to beat.
8 Mob Buster (Bet Now: $3.50) is looking to make it three on the bounce. Lovely ride from Maloney saw him win a few weeks back at Doomben, getting the suck run in transit, and with the big weight, the ride won the horse the race. That was his first run at the mile for the prep, so that should toughen him up for this.
Fitter and up to the mile are two big ticks for 5 Cloak (Bet Now: $21.00). This gelding resumed over 1350m at the Gold Coast two weeks back where he wasn’t really suited by the race shape but he found the line okay without threatening behind Stardome. Good second up record and the firmer deck, bigger track…I think he’ll run a cheeky race at odds.
Race 9. (16:57) Supports Racing Safety (Bm85) 1200m
13 Birriecart (Bet Now: $1.95) looks to have a bit on these. O’Dea/Hoysted trained gelding that resumed three weeks ago at Doomben where he got control in front and once clicked up at the top of the straight, away he went and he was dominant in a brilliant return. He only has to hold that form, even slightly regress, and he’ll win again.
8 Tara Jasmine (Bet Now: $11.00) is in career best form for John Shelton. Once upon a time, it was Grafton or bust for her, but in recent times, she has been firing away from there. Dominant win here two back before going to the Gold Coast and the Pink Ribbon Cup and just missed out on the win when second to Miss Divine Em. If she holds her form, she’ll take beating.
5 Miss Divine Em (Bet Now: $21.00) is hit and miss for Team Edmonds but when she is on, she’s a pretty solid mare at around this level. Had late specking at odds in the Pink Ribbon Cup a fortnight back and the bets were landed, leading throughout and showed good ticker late to win. In form, good racing style, she’s in the mix.
