Day 4 of Royal Ascot is upon us already and most Australian’s are starting to get a bit excited and nervous that Black Caviar will be racing in just over a days time. I give my tips and selections for today’s racing with the hope we return to Day 1’s results.

Race 1 – 2.30 pm Albany Stakes (Group 3) 2 fillies £60,000 6f:
In what has been a very tough carnival for punters the first race on day 4 should give us a winner in the first. Newfangled won very well on debut by over 4 Lengths and has found a very suitable Group 3 race here. He will jump as favourite but take the early odds as i feel he will be well supported late. Looks the winner.
Race 2 – 3.05 pm King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2) 3 £140,000 1.5m:
The second race much like the first looks very hard to not tip the favourite. Astrology is by far the classiest horse in the race and in the small field should be able to get an easy lead and give a very good kick in the straight. I dont like tipping favourites but i cant see him getting beaten against this field. Again not going to get each way odds but we should start the day with two winners.
Race 3 – 3.45 pm Coronation Stakes (Group 1) 3 fillies £250,000 1m:
Race 3 of the day looks to be a much better betting race if you are looking for good odds. Samitar i thought was very impressive last start when beating Ishvana who subsequently came out and won the Group 3 Jersey Stakes on Wednesday. The favourite does look hard to beat so a saver on the quinella would be suggested.
Race 4 – 4.25 pm Wolferton Rated Stakes (Listed) 4+ £50,000 1.25:
A very good Listed race with a few real contenders in the race. Race favourite Gatewood looks the horse to beat in the race but at the current odds im happy to look elsewhere. Danadana i thought was very good each way odds, currently around $9 with most bookmakers ive rated him a close second favourite in the betting so he looks overs.
Race 5 – 5.00pm Queen’s Vase (Group 3) 3 £60,000 2m:
The Queen’s Vase looks to be a race in which we will see some quality stayers come out of. Alot of people like Estimate due impressive last start win and breeding although i feel she is a big risk at this distance in just her third start. I like Perennial at odds, he is bred to be able to stay this distance and is at good odds. With an increase in distance we should see him at his best.
Race 6 – 5.35 pm Buckingham Palace Stakes (Handicap) 3+ £50,000 7f:
The last race of the day will be by far the hardest race to predict with 24 runners over 7 furlongs. In the race the main horses in the market have form around the All Weather track and on a soft ground at Ascot i am very happy to go around that form. The one i really like and think is at very good odds is Emilio Largo he will handle the track and has good turf form unlike the rest. Very good each way bet.
