Hulking sprinter Hay List is among seven Australian-trained horses who have been nominated for the Group One KrisFlyer International Sprint in Singapore.
The KrisFlyer (1200m), run on the same program as the Singapore Airlines International Cup (2000m) at Kranji on May 22, was won by globetrotting Aussie sprinter Takeover Target in 2008.
Hay List is joined in the nominations by Oakleigh Plate winner Eagle Falls and fellow Group One winner Gold Trail who both ran in the race last year with Gold Trail finishing fourth and Eagle Falls fifth.
Love Conquers All, King Pulse, Ahdashim and Ortensia are also among the entries.
Melbourne Cup runner-up and this week’s Ranvet Stakes favourite Maluckyday is one of six Australian-trained horses nominated for the Group One Singapore Airlines International Cup, won in 2005 by the Lee Freedman-trained Mummify.
Maluckyday’s stablemate Dao Dao has also been entered along with Kutchinksy, Phenomenons, Fanjura and Buccellati.
Horses from 13 countries have been nominated to compete in one of the two feature races.
“It’s the strongest list of nominations we’ve had for the two races,” Mike Wanklin, vice-president of racing and head of handicapping at the Singapore Turf Club, said on the club’s website.
“The nomination list for the SIA Cup has great depth and we have a number of highly-credentialled gallopers from around the world.
“The KrisFlyer, which this year forms a part of the Global Sprint Challenge has, with the exception of Black Caviar, all of the world’s top sprinters entered.”
