31/5/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Sha Tin, Sha Tin Vase night

Eleven races have been set down for Sha Tin on Saturday, with good depth across the program, headlined by the Group lll Lion Rock Trophy (1600m).

9 Lucky Generations (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t placed in 11 career outings but that said, he is racing well at present and strikes a winnable race so he’ll do me each way. He ran over 1200m here two weesk ago where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Patch Of Watch. Racing like 1400m suits and strikes a thin race.

8 Flying Romantic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing over 1200m here. He got back to near last in the run, spotting those in front a tidy start, but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Circuit Victory. If he can settle closer in the run, he takes beating.

2 Lucky Man (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran down the track in the Circuit Victory race mentioned above. He got back from the wide gate and was never really a factor, beaten just under seven lengths. 1400m is ideal for him and maps much better this time around.

10 Glaciated (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will do me here. Son of Frosted that ran over this track/distance three weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground but liked the way he closed his race off in defeat behind Little Paradise. If he can use the gate to advantage, he takes beating.

5 Flowing Riches (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Denman that is on debut. Jimmy Ting trained gelding that has had extensive trial work, where he has won a couple, his latest trial seeing him run third here and seemed to move well enough. Tricky gate, but think he has talent.

2 Amazing Victory (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over the mile here several weeks back behind Fortune Boy. He got back off the speed, got a decent run in transit, but was plain late. Back in trip I like and the form around him reads well.

1 Lucky Symphony (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. He is several weeks between runs since a track/distance win when on speed throughout before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. Trial win since looked sharp and despite the wide gate, he’ll press forward and take beating.

3 Diriya (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the debut run, which came at this track/distance on April 27 where he got off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Goldentronicmighty. Maps to get a soft run in transit and be effective late.

7 Prestige Hall (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Belardo that is on debut for David Hall. He has had extensive trial work to get ready for start one and hasn’t been too bad to my eye. I think he’ll be better over slightly further but should be strong late and is one for exotics.

9 Meepmeep (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a tricky gate to overcome but I do think he’s the one to beat. He ran over this track/distance three weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run but worked home with real purpose in the straight when second to Charming Steed. Tick over trial was strong and although he’ll spot them a start, he should be strong late.

7 Forever Folks (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fourth in the Charming Steed race mentioned above. He got off speed and was there to threaten in the straight but was one paced in the run to the line. He gets a jockey upgrade IMO and his best is good enough to threaten.

4 Fashion Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran sixth in the Charming Steed race. He did early work to land on speed and tried hard but the early burn just told on him late in the piece. Tricky gate, but does get Zac Purton aboard and his best is clearly good enough to win.

1 Dazzling Fit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. David Eustace trained gelding that gave them a start and a beating at this track/distance four weeks ago, getting better as the race went on and was impressive. Getting better with racing and off the win, he’ll do me.

4 Mr Cool (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran over this track/distance four weeks ago behind Ka Ying Superb. He got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat I thought. If he can settle closer and be within range, he can launch late.

10 Von Baer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done his recent racing at Happy Valley so returning to Sha Tin can see him improve. He ran over 1800m at that track last time out where he got off speed and was never really a factor, finishing down the track. Not sure I could back him to win but is one for exotics.

4 Beauty Joy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. Like the key chances here, he comes through the Champions Mile. He got back to near last in the run and was good late without threatening behind surprise winner Red Lion. He can settle much closer in the run and be effective late and win. Great bet for mine.

1 Red Lion (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was indeed the surprise winner of Champions Mile. He led throughout and credit to him, he found under pressure to fend them off and score. He’s had two tick over trials since and from the inside gate, he should land on speed again and take beating.

3 Beauty Eternal (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is getting on and probably isn’t the horse he was 6-12 months ago but he is good enough to threaten. He comes through the Champions Mile when off speed and failed to get involved, finishing down the track. Maps ideally and his best is clearly good enough.

1 Masterofmyuniverse (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one they have to beat. He hasn’t raced since April 27 when a track/distance winner, giving them a start and a beating, knuckling down with purpose to win and win well. Creeping up in the weights but maps ideally and is a line finder.

3 Super Legends (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when doing early work from a tricky gate and he tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the race off behind Call Me Glorious. Think with a better run in transit, he can threaten.

7 Righteous Arion (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran third to Call Me Glorious in the race mentioned above. He got off speed and chased with purpose but just couldn’t quite get there. He is hit and miss at times but he is best is good enough to be around the mark.

This is the first time in a long time that 2 Helios Express (Bet Now:  $SP.00) doesn’t have to face Ka Ying Rising and I think that will see him get into the winners list. He ran third in the Chairmans Sprint and was very good from near last when closing off to run third to the star sprinter. Tricky gate, but should get a good drag into the race to launch over the top.

1 Lucky Sweynesse (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given another look. He’s a class animal in his own right that resumed in the Chairmans Sprint and on face value, he was plain, but he didn’t have the best of runs in transit and was found to be coughing post race. Total forgive. If he brings his best, he can threaten.

6 Magic Control (Bet Now:  $SP.00) also comes through the Chairmans Sprint. He punched forward to lead and gave a decent sight from the front but class kicked in for the others and he couldn’t go with them late in the piece. Depth here not as deep, he’s dangerous.

1 Crossborderpegasus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since a win over 1200m here where he overcame a wide draw and finished best to score in good style. Couple of tick over trials since has been quite good and is racing like 1400m will be fine. Hard to beat.

3 Everyone’s Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Frankie Lor, having not raced since April 27 when getting the suck run in behind before angling for clear air and knuckled down strongly to win well. Horse heading in the right direction and has the 1400m lead in under the belt.

9 Sea Chariot (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Former Irish galloper that makes his Hong Kong debut. His best form comes over slightly further but he has trialled well enough for the return and the form around him doesn’t read too bad so watch betting.

11 Talents Ambition (Bet Now:  $SP.00) each way for me. He ran over this track/distance a few weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground and spotted those in front a tidy start but was a real eye catcher late in the piece when third to Dragon Air Force. That was in Class 3 though so now up to Class 2 but does get good weight relief and be strong late.

6 Soleil Fighter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to Sha Tin after racing over this trip at Happy Valley last time. He landed on speed and was there to win the race but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Californiatotality. Good racing style, he should be around the mark.

7 Noisy Boy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. He comes back to the mile after racing over 2400m a few weeks back in the Queen Mother Memorial when beaten a lip by Bundle Award. He has trialled well on the dirt and does bring strong form.

7 Magnificent Nine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me in the get out. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he got off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Winning Gold when fourth, beaten three lengths. Has the potential to settle closer in the run and be effective late.

1 Winning Gold (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That win came in the race mentioned above when on speed throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. He commands respect.

6 Young Brilliant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the same race mentioned above. He attempted to lead throughout but was a beaten horse early on in the straight and tired to finish down the track. I think with a bunny to chase, he’ll be more effective.

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 2 Helios Express

LONG SHOT: Race Ten Number 11 Talents Ambition
