Nine races have been set down for Happy Valley on Wednesday with good depth across the program.

Race 1. (21:35) Tsing Yi Handicap (Class 5) 1200m
10 Hoss (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a great way to start the meeting. He has done his recent racing in Sha Tin and has been pretty solid but I’d say overall, he does his best racing at Happy Valley. He comes here with fresh legs but has trialled well to keep him up to the mark snd despite the gate, he’s clearly the one to beat.
6 Winning Heart (Bet Now: $SP.00) returns to Happy Valley after racing at Sha Tin a few weeks ago where he got off speed and had his chance I thought but was far from disgraced in defeat. Better set up here, he commands respect as a winning contender.
5 Talents Supremo (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing at Sha Tin over this trip when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat I thought behind Bkazing Wind. Maps ideally and overall, the depth here isn’t deep.
Race 2. (22:05) Kwai Chung Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
2 Perfect General (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top for me here. He resumed at this track/distance a few weeks ago and I really liked the way he closed his race off in defeat from off the speed when third. Good upside to come, can settle closer in the run and still be effective late. Hard to beat.
7 Golden Friendship (Bet Now: $SP.00) debuted on the same meeting mentioned above in a different track/distance race. He got into a decent spot in transit and was game in defeat but just lacked the finale. Better for that run under the belt, I think he’s right in the mix here.
4 Gameplayer Elite (Bet Now: $SP.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but can launch late if within range. He ran over this track/distance on Jan 22 where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up good headway behind Spirit Of Peace. He has the finale to be dangerous.
Race 3. (22:35) Kwai Chung Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
Keen to be with 2 Fortune Whiskey (Bet Now: $SP.00) for David Eustace. He was a dominant track/distance winner from two weeks ago, giving them a start and a beating in an electric performance. If he can use the gate and settle closer in the run, it might be a case of good luck beating him.
4 Motoman (Bet Now: $SP.00) will put himself on speed and look to give his all. He was near the speed at this track/distance a fortnight back and tried hard when third to Hayday. I think if ridden to lead, he will take running down.
3 Lucky Archangel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Frankie Lor trained gelding that hasn’t raced since Jan 22 at this track/distance when back off the speed and held up times but seemingly had his chance behind View Of The World. Tick over trial was good and although he’ll spot them a start, he should be strong late.
Race 4. (23:05) The Rotary Centenary Challenge Cup (Class 4) 1650m
I reckon 1 Flying Fortress (Bet Now: $SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps here at odds. He has had two runs back from a spell, both coming over 1200m here. Latest run was on Jan 15 where he got a fair way out of his ground but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. The rise in trip I like, he has upside think he’s sneaky flying.
8 Charming Steed (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after winning at Sha Tin last Wednesday night, loving the rise in trip and was impressive late in the piece, keeping in mind he was six weeks between runs, so you’d like to think he has upside/improvement.
3 Midori Fuji (Bet Now: $SP.00) drops to Class 4 company after just struggling to measure up in Class 3, although his recent runs were at Sha Tin in races far deeper than this. His best is certainly good enough to be dangerous here.
Race 5. (23:35) Tsuen Wan Handicap (Class 4) 1000m
2 Happy United (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the straight bat play for Jamie Richards. Hasn’t raced since Jan 15 when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat when third. Tick over trial was good, maps to do no work in the run and be strong late. Safe option he is.
12 Plentiful (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a short course specialist that has found winning form, with that win coming at this track/distance. They rode with a sit and he reacted big time to it, showing good change up speed to win impressively. He has to be respected off that performance.
7 Leading Article (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Hallowed Crown that is on debut. He has had extensive trial work in readiness for start one and has steadily been progressing. 1000m will be short of his ideal, but if they overdo it, he could pinch a first four spot at a big price.
Race 6. (00:05) The Consensus Cup (Class 3) 1800m
7 Charity Gain (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very progressive galloper and I am quite keen on his prospects. He won over this track/distance on Jan 15, giving them a start and a beating in an electric performance to score. Tick over trial was good, he’ll be strong late, can make a sustained run…I like him here.
1 Flamingo Trillion (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and can run a bold race here. He was outclassed in the G3 January Cup two back before going to a Class 2 where he was solid without being great. Back to this level, he is in the mix.
3 Agenda (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Aidan O’Brien, he now finds himself with David Hall, potentially with eyes towards a late berth at the Derby. He has gig very string form from overseas and his trial work has steadily got better snd better, so keen to see how he goes.
Race 7. (00:40) Ma Wan Handicap (Class 3) 1200m
3 Sports Legend (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top in what looks an open contest. Danny Shum trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since Dec 11 over this track/distance when doing early work from the wide gate and just tiring late in the piece. Tick over trial was pretty good and he strikes a winnable contest to my eye.
1 Beauty Destiny (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Frankie Lor and commands respect. He is a few weeks between runs since a track/distance win when overcoming a wide barrier to finish best and win quite impressively I thought. Creeping up in the weights but has a kind barrier and hard to knock the way he’s racing.
4 Hong Kong Hall (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable with his best. He hasn’t fired a shot in two runs back from a spell but both runs have come at Sha Tin and in much harder races than what he faces here. Been a little while since he has found positive form but I’d argue this is the weakest race he has contested in a while so he’s worth including in exotics.
Race 8. (01:15) Ma Wan Handicap (Class 3) 1200m
3 A Americ To Specso (Bet Now: $SP.00) gets the nod. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground but worked home well enough in defeat I thought behind Gallant Valour. If he can settle closer in the run, or get a drag into the race, he’ll be hard to hold out.
5 Spicy Gold (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Mark Newnham, having not raced since Jan 15 at this track/distance. I think they rode him a touch warm and it backfired as he tired late in the piece, where he usually sits back and runs on with purpose. Tick over trial last week was good and ridden with a sit, he can bounce back hard.
10 Giant Leap (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and I say is a threat at odds. He has done his recent racing at Sha Tin and for the most part has been far from disgraced, his latest run coming on Australia Day when on speed over 1200m and just tired the final 200m. Back to where he races best, he is a big improver.
Race 9. (01:50) Kap Shui Mun Handicap (Class 3) 1650m
1 Soleil Fighter (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the straight bat play in the get out. He was an impressive track/distance winner two weeks ago, leading throughout and gave nothing else a look in to win impressively. This race is no harder, has a good racing style, he’ll be hard to beat.
5 New Forest (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been pretty good in two Hong Kong runs for Mark Newnham. Latest run was last Wednesday night on the dirt at Sha Tin when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick from the front but just felt the pinch late in the piece when nabbed late by Never Peter Out. Fitter, he appeals.
3 Hameron (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 1800m here on Jan 22 when off speed and failed to fire a shot when down the track behind Star Mac. He has a good track/distance record and his best is more than good enough to take this out, so don’t dismiss him.
