Twin Hills Stud has announced the retirement of veteran stallion Denman from active stud duties, marking the end of a notable career both on and off the racetrack.
The 18-year-old son of Lonhro carved out a successful racing career, headlined by his victory in the 2009 Golden Rose, and later stood for a service fee of $8,800 at Twin Hills Stud.
Denman retires having sired 18 individual Stakes winners throughout his time at stud. Among them, the standout was Hong Kong sprinting sensation Hot King Prawn, who achieved elite-level success in one of the world’s most competitive racing jurisdictions.
In a statement released by Twin Hills, the farm confirmed that Denman will now be returning to his birthplace in the Hunter Valley. “He will return to live at Woodlands, where he was foaled and raised,” the statement read.
Denman’s retirement brings to a close a significant chapter in the Australian breeding landscape, with his progeny continuing to carry his influence through domestic and international racing.
