Toppling star mare Pride Of Jenni is no easy feat, but Godolphin’s Nacim Dilmi believes Zardozi can achieve it in Saturday’s Group 1 Australian Cup over 2000m.
Pride Of Jenni was dominant in their recent clash at Caulfield in the G2 Peter Young Stakes, but Dilmi is hopeful that a return to Flemington will change the outcome.
“Her third-up run at Caulfield was pleasing, taking on Pride Of Jenni we knew was going to be a task but she hit the line strongly,” Dilmi said.
Flemington is a track Zardozi loves, and Dilmi draws confidence from last year’s victory with Cascadian.
“She’s come back in such great order,” Dilmi added. “She’s not a big mare but she’s just got such a big heart.”
Jamie Melham will ride the four-year-old G1 winner on Saturday.
