Angel Capital, the frontrunner for the Australian Guineas, has been acquired by Yulong in preparation for his Group 1 race at Flemington on March 2.
Yulong, owned by Chinese businessman Yuesheng Zhang, confirmed the purchase on social media on Tuesday.
The son of Harry Angel was initially bought for $400,000 from the Mill Park Stud draft at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
Under trainer Clinton McDonald, Angel Capital has won four of his seven races, including a dominant Group 2 Autumn Stakes victory.
Currently, he is the $4 favourite with online betting sites for the 2025 Australian Guineas.
A Group 1 win would likely see him join Yulong’s prestigious stallion roster, which includes Written Tycoon, Alabama Express, and Panthalassa.
Yulong General Manager Vin Cox praised the colt’s form and expressed excitement over the purchase, saying, “He’s going to Sandown tomorrow and he’ll gallop with the Yulong colours.”
