Watch 📺 Mr Brightside’s half-sister wins on debut

Lady Brightside has a long way to go if she hopes to emulate the achievements of her illustrious half-brother, but she couldn’t have asked for a better beginning to her racing career, securing victory on debut.

Trained by Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young, the promising filly lived up to her $3.20 odds with a determined performance over 1400m, guided to the finish by jockey Jamie Mott.

Despite the impressive start, Lady Brightside still has a daunting path ahead if she hopes to match Mr Brightside’s record of nine Group 1 wins and $16,960,900 in earnings.

“She’s got a good pedigree with Mr Brightside. We were very mindful of having her winning first-up,” Young said.

“She took a little bit to wind up … but she got the job done. It’s brilliant.”

Young is confident the filly will continue to progress with more experience.

“There’s a race at Sandown for her around the 8th of April. We will see if she can take the next step up,” Young said.

“She’s a very exciting filly to have in the barn.”
