Imported mares Moira and Full Count Felicia will make their Australian racing debuts in the $1 million Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.
Both mares have already achieved Group 1 success in the northern hemisphere and are owned by racing powerhouse Yulong, trained by Chris Waller, and are now set to test their form on Australian soil.
Their resumes closely mirror that of Via Sistina, who claimed the Ranvet last year and has since gone on to win five more Group 1 races, making her a standout contender for Horse of the Year.
For Moira and Full Count Felicia, the challenge of matching Via Sistina’s success looms large, with the superstar mare installed as the $1.40 favourite for the Ranvet with online bookmakers.
Waller has five nominations for the race, including Fangirl and Lindermann.
While Fangirl is expected to run in the George Ryder Stakes (1500m), Waller has yet to confirm if both Moira and Full Count Felicia will compete.
“We are still working out our options,” Waller said.
