Unbeaten Tasmanian filly Geegees Mistruth is set to tackle her toughest challenge yet in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday. Owned and bred by the Geard family, the daughter of Wordsmith has already made her mark in Tasmania, but this will be her first big test on the mainland.
Trainer Stuart Gandy knows the filly faces stiff competition. “She’s a homebred, looking at the others and their breeding, she won’t have come up against breeding like that but hopefully she’s up to it and can do us proud,” he said.
With limited options in Tasmania, Gandy decided to step her up to the Melbourne level. The filly, set to arrive in Melbourne by boat, will be ridden by top jockey Ben Melham. Gandyβs stable has yet to secure a Group-level win on the mainland, but hopes are high that Geegees Mistruth can rise to the occasion.
