Trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young will have three representatives in the Australian Guineas

Apart from Chris Waller, trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young are the only stable to have multiple representation in the Australian Guineas.

Luckily for Busuttin and Young their two main players – Forgot You and Pascero – drew nice barriers while outsider Zerelle drew wide in Saturday’s Group 1 contest over 1600m at Flemington.

“Two out of three ain’t bad,” Busuttin said of the draws for Forgot You (6) and Pascero (7) with Zerelle out in gate 17.

“We might change it up and go back on Zerelle and see if he can get some luck,” Busuttin said.

“We thought he was a proper horse in the spring, but he didn’t run up to expectations.

“We turned him out, gelded him and he’s come back, albeit against very inferior fields, but we’ll have a crack and see where we end up.”

Forgot You is a $10 chance with TAB and is the pick of the Busuttin-Young trio after his closing fourth in the Group 3 C S Hayes Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on February 19.

That was Forgot You’s first run since finishing fifth to Hitotsu in the Group 1 Victoria Derby in the spring.

“He’s come on beautifully, Busuttin said.

“He’ll enjoy the mile, will settle a lot closer in the running, midfield. He hit that flat spot again first-up and unfortunately, it’s something that’s going to happen with him.

“We’ve just got to try and get him through that the best we can.”

After victories at his first two starts at Sandown, Pascero looked the likely winner before being run down by Pinstriped in the C S Hayes Stakes last time out.

While that was over 1400m, Busuttin is confident Pascero will run the 1600m on Saturday if he can be ridden with a sit from the drawn.

“He should be sitting one-one or somewhere near there and he’ll be attacking at the 300 metres rather than being left in front,” Busuttin said.

“He’ll get every opportunity.”

Busuttin cannot split his two runners, but he has healthy respect for Profondo and Hitotsu.

“They’re first-up, so who knows how they’ve come back, but I’m happy with our horses,” Busuttin said.
