For the ’not seen before’ file, three riders who have never won a race face off at Moruya this afternoon – against each other.
It is race 3, on at 1:10pm.
They are Nick Hyde, who rides BELLEGANO (Rogano – Betty’s Belle) , Sally Faulks who pilots HALLIDAY ROAD (Congrats – Nickynoo’s Girl) and Zac Wadick who is on SHARPSHOOTER (Hinchinbrook – Prostar).
Young Zac momentarily looked joy in the face when he was beaten a length on Sharpshooter last start when 2nd at Bathurst. That’s the closet he has come – he has had just 5 rides
Hyde has twice been runner-up, one day at Dubbo he was beaten a head, and this from just 6 rides!
However, good luck and a special wish must go out to 4kg apprentice Sally Faulks.
Today will be her very first ride in a race.
It may well be the first time three different riders who have never tasted victory have been thrust into the same race.
What price the trifecta for the trio? Well, Hyde’s mount is $41, Wadick’s is $7 and newbie Faulks is on a $21 hope – these are Palmerbet prices.
As for the race itself, I like the 2kg apprentice in this, Amy McLucas.
This girl can ride and she is on TULLA PARK (Shaft – Murial’s Spirit) who is pretty talented too.
The horse is awkwardly drawn in this but she did win at Goulburn on a wet track in a strong Cl 3 before heading to town and running on well when 8th in a Highway.
Many, many horses come back to bush races after Highways and perform extremely well.
I imagine that happens here.
Good luck to all, especially Sally Faulks who is on debut. Daunting but exciting day.
