Sue Olive harbours ambitions of sharing her first feature race victory with Mystical View in Saturday’s Listed Black Heart Bart Stakes (1200m) at Belmont Park.

Sue Olive is having her second crack at a stakes race after Kaymay contested the Group 3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Ascot last April.

Mystical View can claim her first black type win after she ran second in the Belgravia Stakes (1200m) and third in the Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) a year ago.

Bought for $160,000 at the Magic Millions Perth winter sale in June, Mystical View has locked away two top runs since transferring from Grant and Alana Williams.

She was acquired by Olive and her husband Alan to add to their breeding stocks at Gold Front Thoroughbreds Breeding and Racing, but is still packing a punch racing.

First-up for Olive after a three month spell she stormed home powerfully to finish a short-head second to Spin The Knife over 1000m.

A week later at 1200m she produced a similar finishing burst after coming from last position to run over the top of Dunbar.

Olive said the four-year-old had thrived since her last-start victory.

“I was a little worried backing her up but it allowed two weeks into the Black Heart Bart Stakes,” Olive said.

“But she has come through the run in great order and actually put on weight which is really good.

“She is a top mare and such a lovely runner.

“Her first run for me was good and she brought it to the table again at her next start.

“I think she has something left and I’m excited for what she can do going forward.

“I’m nervous and excited, but I’m sure she is raring to go.”

Mystical View is $13 in current Tabtouch markets. Laverrod the firming $2.40 favourite.

Massimo ($4.40), first-up for Chris and Michael Gangemi and Valour Road ($5.50), the only other runners in single figures.

The Black Heart Bart Stakes has attracted a field of nine runners and Mystical View has drawn barrier six for Jade McNaught.

She replaces Clint Johnston-Porter who has elected to ride Massimo.

“It’s disappointing to lose Clint, but I knew there was a chance of that happening,” Olive said.

“He’s had a good association with her going back to when she was with Grant and Alana.

“But there is nothing wrong in going to Jade, she’s a very good rider.

“She’s a worthy replacement.”
