Star filly Sheza Alibi to miss the rest of Autumn

Star filly Sheza Alibi has been sent for a spell following her breathtaking win in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m), with connections confirming her autumn campaign has come to an end.

Co-trainer Peter Moody revealed on RSN’s Correct Weight that the three-year-old will now enjoy a well-earned break before being set for a major spring preparation.

“Yep, all over now, she’ll have a well-deserved break,” Katherine Coleman’s co-trainer confirmed.

Moody explained the decision had always been part of the plan, given the filly’s demanding schedule over the past year.

“We’ve always had in our mind that it would be a very light autumn (for Sheza Alibi) because she had been in work a hell of a long time the previous year.

“And obviously she travelled the length and breadth of the country from Central Queensland to Rockhampton to Townsville then found herself all the way down in Melbourne through to Sandown Guineas Day.

“She only got about a 15, 16-day break post that to be ready for these races – that can be quite telling.”

Looking ahead, Moody indicated the $10 million Golden Eagle (1500m) in Sydney is shaping as a likely target for the talented daughter of Saxon Warrior.

“Let’s hope we can spell her and bring her back in one piece and have a nice spring campaign,” Moody stated.

“That campaign would probably, at this point, be pointed towards the Golden Eagle.

“She’ll resume in Melbourne or something. I haven’t even thought to that stage yet.

“We’ll work our way towards maybe the Golden Eagle and then back to Melbourne for Champions Day.”

Sheza Alibi finishes her autumn preparation as one of the standout fillies in the country and will be aiming to return in the spring with even greater impact.
