The Golden Eagle Information

The Golden Eagle is Australia’s second richest race in Australia behind The Everest as well as the third richest turf race in the world.

The race boasts a total prize pool of $10,000,000 and is at Set Weight conditions over 1500m for 4YO horses with 10% of the prize money given to the connections nominated charities.

The Golden Eagle will be run on Saturday the October 31, 2026 at Randwick Racecourse.

The field limit is 16 horses with the race introduced to lure the best 4YO horses in the country.

The Golden Eagle will become the second richest race in Australia behind the Everest. The 16 runners of the The Golden Eagle will race for a staggering $10,000,000 in prize money.

The winner of The Golden Eagle will collect $5,250,000 while the connections of the runner up will also take home $2,000,000 in prize money.

The Golden Eagle Form Guide

The Set Weights race for 4YO over 1500m is expected to attract Australia’s and NZ’s best 4YO horses.

The form guide for the 2025 Golden Eagle will take into account lead-up runs, track & distance records and the barrier draw. Given the race will be run at Randwick Racecourse we will also look at horses who have performed at the venue in the past.

The prior years Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas are likely to be the key raced punters will look at when accessing the form for the race.
