Biancelli shapes as one of the most appealing runners at Pakenham on Saturday, with co-trainer Michael Kent Jnr declaring the mare perfectly placed for Race 4 over 1000 metres after an encouraging first up run.
Kent Jnr said the stable took plenty of encouragement from her most recent performance, especially given the patient route taken to get her back to the races.
“Fantastic run, you know she had a three months spell and then a bit of time getting back to the races after a knee injury.”
Her run on Cranbourne Cup Day only strengthened their belief she’s trending the right way.
“Cranbourne Cup day it was hard to make ground, Gin And Tonic (eventual winner) was very quick and we just got off the bridle and were chasing a long way from home but she closed very well late.”
With extra conditioning and a more forgiving set-up, Kent Jnr says Saturday’s 1000-metre chute start is exactly what Biancelli needs.
“Extra three weeks is beautiful for her fitness wise and I think the Pakenham chute start is going to suit her a bit better, as she’ll be able to travel a bit more cosily and she’s drawn a lovely gate to be just off the pace and off the fence and I spoke to Tim Bailey he assured me there will be lovely give in that track.”
And when it came to assessing her prospects, Kent Jnr didn’t hold back — delivering the good oil for punters.
“I think she’s our best of the weekend she’s going great.”
