Gerald Ryan hasn't given up hope of getting Sequista to Queensland this preparation.

Winter carnival plans for Sequista have been forced into a rejig due to a float mishap but connections are hoping she can put a trip north back on the radar.

The filly was an early favourite for the two-year-old race at Gosford’s stand-alone meeting two weeks ago but suffered abrasions to a leg during an unfortunate incident while being unloaded from the float.

“She didn’t play up in the float at all,” co-trainer Gerald Ryan said.

“She was walking off the tailboard and her leg went over the side of the tailboard and it put three or four little cuts down the inside of her cannon bone.”

Despite the injuries being minor, they were enough to necessitate her race day scratching.

Ryan said it hadn’t affected her work schedule but it had impacted plans to take her to Brisbane for this weekends’ Listed Bill Carter Stakes (1350m) at Doomben.

Instead, Sequista has been paid up for the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation Handicap (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday, although Ryan hasn’t completely committed to a start due to the expected heavy 10 conditions.

“She didn’t miss a day’s work but as far as setting back her program, yes because she was supposed to be in Brisbane this weekend,” Ryan said.

“She’s going well, eating her feed, bright and well within herself.

“The only negative about Saturday now is going five or six weeks between runs and you’re running on a heavy ten.

“At this stage she probably will run. And she has got first crack at the track being the first race.”

Sequista will carry 56kg after the two-kilo claim of leading apprentice Braith Nock and Ryan says a trip to Queensland remains an option with the Oxlade Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Stradbroke Handicap day a potential goal.
