Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has strengthened its involvement in Australian racing after partnering with Southside Racing and securing slots in this year’s $1 million Meteorite and Supernova.
SEN will hold a slot in the Meteorite at Cranbourne on November 21 and the Supernova at Pakenham on December 12.
SEN chief executive Craig Hutchison said the network was “delighted to be partnering” with Southside Racing and believes the slot-race concept can help grow the sport and strengthen its connection with the wider community.
“We’re there to support all slot holders and to tell their stories. I think one of the great things about racing is that it is just a beautiful platform to tell stories, and things like this give it an opportunity to do that,” Hutchison told his station’s Giddy Up With Gareth Hall program on Monday.
Hutchison said SEN would also explore opportunities for its audience to share in the upside of the venture without taking on financial risk.
Southside Racing general manager Alastair Dwyer welcomed SEN’s involvement and revealed trainers had already started putting forward horses for the two races.
“We’re thrilled to announce today that SEN will be on board this year,” Dwyer said.
Both $1 million contests will be staged for the third time this year, with Nadal and Jigsaw having won the first two editions of the Meteorite in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
Here To Shock won the inaugural Supernova in 2024 before Warnie claimed the second running last year.
