Same horses, same track, same jockey, same result.
That is what Peter G Moody & Katherine Coleman are hoping for when they return to Sandown on Saturday with the three horses that gave them a treble on May 24.
Suances, Saban and Roadcone return to the Hillside track with apprentice Luke Cartwright, claiming 3kg, to ride all three after winning on the trio three weeks ago.
“All horses came through their last start wins in good order,” Coleman said.
“We’ve given them three weeks break between runs just to space them out a little bit longer.
“They’re all winter horses that appreciate give in the ground, so the longer we can keep them up and going at this time of year, the better it is for them, and we’ve got to place them to advantage.
“They’ve all got races this Saturday that should suit.”
Suances, successful in a benchmark 78 grade race for mares last start, drops to benchmark 74 grade, but against the boys, in the Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap (1600m).
“Suances had had a couple of unlucky runs where things had not gone her way,” Coleman said.
“She has been a horse that we thought always had metropolitan ability, so we put the blinkers on hoping to change things up a bit and watching the run, it was going to be a pretty hard watch.
“Thankfully when she got into the clear she was able to quicken up nicely.
“With no weight on her back with the claim for Luke Cartwright, it paid in her favour.”
Roadcone will be looking to complete three wins in succession when he runs in the Ray Porter’s 90th Celebration Classic (1600m).
The gelding had been successful over 1400m at Pakenham and 1600m at Sandown in his past two leading throughout in brutal displays.
“I don’t think he’s one dimensional,” Coleman said.
“He can still quicken well when he sits off them, but definitely ridden forward at his past two starts we have seen the best of him.”
After Cartwright’s claim, Saban will carry the same weight he was successful with in his victory over the same trip when he lines up in the Sportsbet More Places Handicap (1800m).
“We’ve again taken advantage of the claim and hopefully we will see them all given their chance,” Coleman said.
