Lindsay Park will give in-form filly her chance at a mile.
Will Hayes believes a combination of factors have fallen into place to see in-form filly Rohesia recapture winning form.
The daughter of Hanseatic has won her past two starts over 1400m, the latest at stakes level, and the stable were more than happy to keep her in Adelaide with an eye to Saturday’s Listed Adelaide Guineas (1600m).
Having initially been kept to sprint trips, Rohesia beat a strong Class 3 at Ballarat before justifying her $3 favouritism in the Listed Nitschke Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville Parks on April 18th.
Hayes said the addition of blinkers, and the way that Rohesia has settled with them applied, has seen her flourish at her past two starts.
“We’re going to look at the mile in the Adelaide Guineas,” Hayes said.
“She was so strong through the line the other day, we thought we’d give her the chance to add another stakes victory.
“I think that the defining moment is when we got the blinkers on, she’s very genuine, but they really have improved her.
“So it’s really good that she’s tractable, and she’s relaxed in them and she keeps finding the line, so we’ll definitely get a good guide on her out to the mile.”
Having stayed in Adelaide for the past two weeks, Hayes believes Rohesia’s temperament has been key in helping her realise her potential.
“She’s stayed here with Stuart and Lizzy Gowers and she loves it,” Hayes said.
“She’s very straightforward, Ash Alford who’s travelling our horses has done a great job and says she hasn’t missed a beat since her last win.”
Rohesia is among 16 acceptors for the Adelaide Guineas and has drawn barrier three with Daniel Stackhouse booked to ride, rated a $6 chance behind Gold Coast Belle at $2.15.
