Racing Victoria stewards have launched an inquiry after two Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained horses, Moonhaven and Kira, who were scratched on Saturday morning.
The RV Compliance Assurance Team alerted stewards that both gallopers had been given medication on race day. The pair were withdrawn at 8.40am, with the matter adjourned after evidence was taken from co-trainer Sam Freedman, veterinarian Tom Brennan, and stable staff Alex Maher and Debra Cooke.
In a statement on X, Freedman Racing acknowledged the error.
“An oversight occurred within the stable for which we take full responsibility. We are committed to working openly and cooperatively with the Racing Victoria stewards as they conduct their inquiry.”

Therefore, we will conduct an immediate and in-depth review to ensure that all processes continue to meet our stringent requirements and do everything possible to mitigate future risk.” The stable added.
