Professional punter Noah Brash has pleaded guilty to five charges of betting with or on behalf of jockey Michael Poy, breaching Australian Rule of Racing 236.
The Victorian Racing Tribunal (VRT) heard Brashโs case, involving bets placed via encrypted messaging and accounts labelled Brashboy 1 and Brashboy 2.
The offences included significant profits derived from lay bets and head-to-head wagers.
In one instance at Swan Hill on August 7, 2022, Brashโs account returned $12,738.18 on a lay bet against Pill Box.
Overall, his accounts profited over $350,000 during the period under investigation.
Stewards labelled the case โat the very top end of the scale,โ urging a 15-year warning off period to protect racingโs integrity.
โThis sort of offending is very difficult to detect,โ said Adrian Anderson, stressing the need for strong deterrence.
Brash, representing himself, expressed remorse, apologising to the tribunal and the racing community.
The tribunal will decide his penalty within 14 days.
Meanwhile, Poy faces 19 charges, with a directions hearing set for December 10.
