Pride Of Jenni has drawn perfectly in barrier one for Saturday’s Group 1 Doomben Cup, with Ciaron Maher’s star mare set to take on 12 rivals in the 2000-metre feature.
Among them is Antino, who finished just behind Jenni in the Hollindale Stakes and will again be ridden by Blake Shinn, though this time from a wide draw in barrier 11 as he steps up to 2000m for the first time.
Annabel and Rob Archibald saddle up a powerful trio, including last year’s winner Bois D’argent and Hollindale placegetter Fawkner Park, to be ridden again by Ethan Brown.
Chris Waller’s hopes rest with four runners — Lindermann, Militarize, Kovalica and Osipenko — after Buckaroo was not among final acceptances.
Also making headlines is Hong Kong-based jockey Matthew Poon, returning to ride Klondike for John O’Shea and Tom Charlton in just the gelding’s second Australian outing.
