Perfumist has returned to racing with an impressive victory in the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes (1400m) at Newcastle on Friday.
The Bjorn Baker-trained mare was sent out a $3.60 favourite, with Rachel King positioning her just behind the speed after jumping from barrier six.
Mrs Maree took up her customary role at the head of affairs, leading Bird Whistle and Just Glamourous, while Perfumist settled in fifth position.
Just Glamourous loomed as a threat to Mrs Maree approaching the 400m before Perfumist joined the leaders and quickly asserted her superiority.
King sent Perfumist for home inside the final 150m and the mare quickly put the race beyond doubt, racing clear to score comfortably.

Mareth, ridden by Tim Clark for Michael Freedman, finished strongly to claim second, with the John O’Shea and Tom Charlton-trained Polymnia and Zac Lloyd narrowly holding third ahead of Infancy.
The victory provided Perfumist with the perfect start to her new campaign, having resumed after ending her previous preparation with a victory.
