Patinack Farm will have at least one runner in both the Breeders Plate and Gimcrack Stakes as it tries to build on a flying start with its new-season two-year-old team.
Sydney barrier trial winners Gottagun (Breeders Plate) and Hussousa (Gimcrack) are confirmed Randwick starters for Nathan Tinkler’s breeding and racing conglomerate.
Patinack has wasted no time in showcasing its 2011-2012 juvenile strength with Crown Of Coureuse winning the first two-year-old race of the Australian season – the Hopeful Plate – at Toowoomba on Saturday.
Racing manager Robyn Hartney said trainer John Thompson was thrilled with the Toowoomba win.
“It was a $75,000 race but apart from the money it gave John a lot of satisfaction,” she said.
Singapore-based Brazilian jockey Joao Moreira will ride Gottagun and Hussousa as part of a strong book of Epsom Handicap day rides for Patinack.
Moreira has combined successfully with Trusting on two recent occasions and will ride him in the Metropolitan Handicap.
Thompson has also nominated Strength for the Breeders Plate as well as Casinoholic and Lita for the Gimcrack.
“John and Nathan will look at the fields before deciding on any other starters,” Hartney said.
Resurgent Victorian trainer David Hayes has entries in both races.
Kyria, the Grahame Begg-trained filly who turned heads with her barrier trial win at Canterbury last week, is a Gimcrack entry.
