Connections of unbeaten gelding Love Tap have turned down a multi million dollar offer from overseas interests as the horse preapares for this weekends Group One Spring Champion Stakes.
Love Tap who was syndicated by Dynamic Syndications has had interest from overseas buyers after continuing his unbeaten form with an easy win in the Gloaming Stakes with reports connections turned down a multi million dollar deal to purchase the horse.
The son of Tapit has had three career starts winning all of them rather impressively and he is set to line-up in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick this weekend as the short priced favourite.
“The owners said they didn’t buy this horse as an investment strategy, they bought him as a lifestyle choice and they are living the dream,’’ Watt told the Daily Telegraph.
“He’s already a ‘free’ horse as he’s won more than we paid for him as a yearling.
“When our prizemoney is tax-free – and we have some of the wealthiest races in the world – then it is exciting to think we have a genuine, good horse that is eligible for so many of those good races.’’
Love Tap is set to make the trip to Melbourne if he wins the G1 Spring Champion Stakes this weekend with the aim being the $5 million Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on October 24 and the $2 million Victoria Derby at Flemington a week later.
Love Tap was a $110,000 purchase from last years Magic Million sales at the Gold Coast.
