Spring Champion Stakes Information

The Spring Champion Stakes is a Group l staying race and is the lone Group l for Sydney three year old stayers during the Spring. It is held at Randwick racecourse each year over 2000m.

The race is at Group l level and boasts a total prize pool of $1,000,000 and is at Set Weights.

The 2019 Spring Champion Stakes will be run on Saturday the 12th of October, 2019 at Randwick racecourse.

The Spring Champion Stakes is an ideal launching pad towards the Victoria Derby, as we have seen in recent years through the likes of Hampton Court and It’s A Dundeel, who went on to run competitively at Flemington.

The race is a grave yard for favourites, with only one winning in the last decade, and that was last year with Vanbrugh.
