Aussie-owned Royal Ascot winner a chance for Golden Eagle

Docklands is closely-related to an OTI Racing horse who was a Black Type performer in Australia and the Harry Eustace-trained colt might see himself carrying the same colours Down Under after winning on Day 3 at Royal Ascot.

The half-brother to Harbour Views took his record to three wins from five starts, with two second placings, when a narrow winner over a horse also likely to head to Australia in the Britannia Stakes (1609m).

OTI Racing principal Terry Henderson said serious consideration would be given to targetting the $10 million Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill in early November with the three-year-old son of Massaat.

“He’s a horse that we could possibly think about the Golden Eagle with later in the year,” Henderson told racing.com shortly after the win.

“He’ll be four or five months younger than his competitors, but he’s clearly a pretty good horse.

“I think we’ll have to fight off some agents who will be looking for him to do other things than what we want him to do, like go to Hong Kong, but I think our owners will probably stay in and run the journey with Harry.”

Docklands made it three wins on end when he charged down the outside of the Ascot straight to nab New Bay gelding New Endeavour, who is also bound for Australia after being purchased by Gai Waterhouse earlier in the week, in the final couple of strides under the urgings of Hayley Turner.

The bay colt, who is from the Mark Of Esteem mare Icky Woo, was a 16,000 Euros purchase for Blandford Bloodstock at the Ireland September Yearling Sale in 2021, which was around the same time Harbour Views scored his biggest win in Australia – in the Listed Tontonan Stakes (1400m).

Harbour Views, a son of Le Havre, was also placed in a Group 2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) and finished fourth in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) won by Arcadia Queen.
