New South Wales trainer Michelle Russell has been banned for a period of 12 months after a horse in her care returned a positive to Heptaminol and Cobalt.
Racing NSW stewards released on Thursday their findings to an inquiry into Russel’s galloper Taliano who returned a positive to Heptaminol, and Cobalt both of which were above the threshold in a pre-race urine sample at Wagga on Tuesday, 14 July 2020.

Racing NSW Stewards yesterday conducted an inquiry into reports from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL), Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) and the National Measurement Institute (NMI) concerning the Analyst’s findings of Heptaminol, and Cobalt above the threshold in a pre-race urine sample taken from Taliano prior to the gelding competing in and subsequently winning Race 2 (Maiden Handicap, 1400m) conducted at Murrumbidgee Turf Club’s Wagga Racecourse on Tuesday, 14 July 2020.
