Arrowfield Stud is preparing for an emotional week in Sydney, where the final group of yearlings by Not A Single Doubt will be offered at an Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

The son of Redoute’s Choice has been a mainstay of the Hunter Valley farm, which was where he was bred and where he has stood since being retired from racing in 2005.

Now 20 years old, Not A Single Doubt was retired from stud duty in 2019 due to pulmonary disease and it is fitting that his final yearling in the Easter catalogue – Lot 400, a filly out of the Anabaa mare Sananda – is being prepared for sale by Arrowfield.

“We’re immensely proud of him as a home-bred stallion and he’ll be loved and cared for at Arrowfield for the rest of his life,” Arrowfield Stud bloodstock manager Jon Freyer said.

Not A Single Doubt raced 10 times, with the Listed Zeditave Stakes the biggest of his four wins, while he also finished second to subsequent Sydney 2YO Triple Crown winner Dance Hero in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

He went on to become one of Australia’s most sought-after stallions, producing 16 Group 1 winners, including 2020 Golden Slipper winner Farnan, Blue Diamond winners Miracles Of Life and Extreme Choice and dual Group 1 winners Kenedna, Scales Of Justice and Shout The Bar.

He is also the sire of Classique Legend, winner of the $15 million The Everest in 2020.

Not A Single Doubt’s worldwide progeny earnings now approach $150 million, he’s been a top 10 Australian sire since 2015 and a top 10 sire of juveniles for a decade.

In 2015/16 he was the nation’s leading sire of southern hemisphere-bred progeny with global prizemoney of more than $15 million, and the No. 1 sire of three-year-olds.

Freyer and the entire team are proud of what he has achieved, particularly given he took a few seasons to establish himself a Stakes performer.

“By the autumn of 2010, with two crops racing, he had 50 winners and half-a-dozen Stakes horses but no Stakes winners, so his sixth book was getting hard to fill,” Freyer recalled.

“Then two Stakes winners emerged from major city stables; Doubtful Jack with Peter Moody in Melbourne and Squamosa with Gai Waterhouse in Sydney.

“He served 192 mares in 2010, and then Karuta Queen arrived on the scene. She won the 2011 Magic Millions 2YO Classic and by the end of that season Not A Single Doubt had 6 Stakes winners and was 18th on the General Sires’ premiership.

“He was up and away and he never looked back.”

Arrowfield has the last five of the nine Not A Single Doubt youngsters who will be offered.

Amarina Farm has the first to be sold, Lot 136, which will be followed by a filly from the family of Black Caviar, while the bay colt who goes through as Lot 262 is out of a half-sister to Chautauqua.

The Inglis Easter Yearling Sale commences at 10am Tuesday and concludes on Wednesday.
