Nominations for the three main feature races of the Melbourne Spring Carnival have been announced.
The nominations for the Melbourne Cup number one hundred and seventy-four with last year’s winner Twilight Payment named to defend his crown.
Similarly, last year’s Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup winners, Sir Dragonet and Verry Elleegant, will also be looking for back-to-back wins in those respective feature races.
One hundred and fifty-three horses have been nominated for the Cox Plate while there are one hundred and seventy nominations for the Caulfield Cup.
In all, only fifteen international horses have been nominated.
The Caulfield Cup will be held on October 16, while the Cox Plate will be held October 23 and the Melbourne Cup on November 2.
