In form rider Jamie Mott is set to ride Schwarz in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) at The Valley this Saturday in what looks a big opportunity for the rider.
Schwarz, a talented sprinter trained by John O’Shea and Tom Charlton, is expected to lead from barrier five. After a strong Group 2 win in the Australia Stakes (1200m) before a plain effort in the CF Orr Stakes (1400m), the horse is back to his preferred 1200m distance. Mott aims to keep him relaxed for a strong performance.
With regular riders unavailable, Mott sees this as a great opportunity.
“Grateful for the opportunity and really looking forward to it,” Mott said to Racing.com
“He’s still an entire so a Group 1 on his CV is what they’re looking for and this is his best chance so far to do so.”
