Leading trainer Tom Dabernig has questioned the recent success of Melbourne Cup winning trainer Darren Weir in light of recent investigations into his training practices where police found jiggers on his property following a raid.
Dabernig who along with David and Ben Hayes make up the Lindsay Park training trio spoke with radio station 3AW this morning thinks Weir should be stood down from pending the outcome of the investigation.
“It’s hard to say, I mean clearly the ongoing investigation are of things that have come to light recently,” said Dabernig, who trains in partnership with David and Ben Hayes at Lindsay Park.
“But, Darren Weir over several years has broken all the records and he’s become our premiership-winning trainer. Now, in light of what we’ve seen one would have to question some of those successes.”
