A landmark $1 billion project set to revolutionise the Gold Coast Turf Club (GCTC) has moved a step closer to becoming a reality, with plans nearing the shovel-ready stage.
The ambitious development will see two hectares at the northern end of the GCTC site transformed into a mixed-use hub featuring residential apartments, retail outlets and entertainment venues.
First conceived in the late 2010s, the Sunlight Lifestyle Precinct is a joint initiative between the Turf Club and Aquis, a major force in racing and breeding through various entities including Tony Fung Investments.
Named in honour of the star filly Sunlight, who famously won the 2018 Magic Millions 2YO Classic and later secured three Group 1 victories, the project received formal approval from the local council in August last year.
Aquis’ deep involvement in Australian racing continues to shape the future of the sport, with this transformative development aiming to secure the long-term viability of racing on the Gold Coast.
