Co-trainer Grant Williams says he’s looking forward to seeing how his gun filly Keshi Boom goes from the hunter to the hunted as she looks to extend her undefeated status at Ascot on Saturday.

Keshi Boom lowered the colours of reigning Two-Year-Old Horse of the Year, Super Smink in the Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) 10 days ago, a surprising victory that’s seen her elevate to hot favouritism in the Group 3 Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m).

Following her super impressive first up success in the Belgravia Stakes (1200m), all the attention was focused on $1.55 favourite Super Smink in the Burgess Queen Stakes, but Keshi Boom highlighted her rising star status with a lethal turn of foot.

Grant Williams, who trains in partnership with his partner, Alana, says his confidence in Keshi Boom hasn’t lessened since the Burgess Queen Stakes and he can see no reason why she can’t make it four wins from as many starts in the Champion Fillies Stakes.

“It’s a bit different for her this week obviously as they’re all going to be looking at her and not Super Smink like last week.” Williams said on Tabradio.

“Look, she can’t do any more, she bounced through the run really good and her work yesterday (Wednesday) was as good as she can work.

“She’s eating and licking the bin, so we can’t ask any more of her, she just turns up and runs her best.

“I can’t see why she wouldn’t do it again on Saturday, we’ve got Pikey (William Pike), we’ve got a good gate and I think the mile is going to suit her.”

In trials and races, Keshi Boom has not been beaten. She’s a sister in blood to Prince Of Boom, a dual Group 2 winner with over $1.2 million in prizemoney.

Keshi Boom’s returned just over $100,000 after being bought by Williams Racing for $120,000 at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Grant and Alana Williams are no strangers to Champion Fillies success, having won the race five times previously, stretching back to Dreamaway (2011) and continuing with Delicacy (2015), Perfect Reflection (2016), Arcadia Queen (2019) and Tuscan Queen (2020).

Williams believes the future is untapped for Keshi Boom.

“It’s always a surprise when you get someone like this,” Williams said.

“It’s not that we never rated her, we’ve had her in our top three.

“The ones that keep improving with every trial and every run are exciting.

“You don’t know where the roof is for this filly.

“I’m looking forward to getting her to the races.”

Keshi Boom, currently quoted $1.38 with Tabtouch, will jump from barrier five with champion jockey William Pike her partner.

Pike’s won the Champion Fillies four times, a hatrick in partnership with Williams.

Meanwhile, Williams says all is in readiness for Alsephina in the RJ Peters Stakes (1500m), despite lumping the 59kg top weight.

The Williams stable also hold claims with Wango Award (R2), Yonga Lass (R3) and Metallon (R9).
