Katelyn Mallyon has set her sights on achieving one more milestone before she finishes her apprenticeship at the end of August.
Mallyon has won the Melbourne junior riders’ title twice in 2011-12 and 2013-14 and a race-to-race double at Caulfield on Saturday has taken her to within three wins of outriding her claim.

“That’s been my focus,” Mallyon said.
“I think I’ve got nine meetings until the end of August to ride three winners in town, so hopefully I can get that done.”
Patrick Moloney, with 42 metropolitan wins in Victoria in the past 12 months, is set to win this season’s apprentices’ title.
Mallyon brought up her first win of the day at Caulfield aboard the John Sadler-trained Japhils who scored by a half-length in the Aaron Barnett Hcp (1200m).
In the following race, Mallyon guided the Quinton Scott-trained mare Forgeress to a narrow win over 1200m, defying a wide run from the outside gate.
