Jockey Justin Huxtable remains in hospital following a mishap in the mounting yard at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Doctors hope the injured jockey can leave hospital on Monday or Tuesday after he suffered damage to his ribs and a ruptured spleen.
Huxtable’s mount Rhapsody Rose became fractious in the ring and when the apprentice went to re-mount her, it has been reported that the Clerk Of The Courses pony took fright and double-barrelled Huxtable.
Huxtable needed immediate attention and was taken to hospital for further assessment. The wait for a second ambulance to arrive at the track caused races to go back one.
