International scratched from Cox Plate field

The Aidan O’Brien trained Magic Wand has been withdrawn from Saturday’s $5m Cox Plate at Moonee Valley after failing a second veterinary examination.

Aidan O’Brien’s Cox Plate pair Magic Wand and Armory were required to have a re-examination after being found to be lame on Thursday when all horses were checked.

The vets have again found Magic Wand to be lame and the stable has withdrawn the horse out of the Cox Plate field.

Armory however has passed the vet exam and will line-up in the $5m Cox Plate on Saturday where he is the $6 second favourite with Sportsbet.

The scratching means first emergency Buckhurst will gain a start in the race.
