Hugh Bowman has forgone his rides at Canberra on their biggest race meeting of the year where the Black Opal Stakes and Canberra Cup headline the card due to a family matter.
Bowman left Flemington after the Newmarket Handicap on Saturday despite having the ride on odds on favourite Avilius in the Australian Cup due to the same reason and the Champion jockey will not ride again today.
Hugh Bowman took to twitter to thank everyone for there well wishes on Saturday afternoon.
Replacement jockeys have been confirmed for Bowman’s book of rides on Sunday.
